Seeing future events can be helpful when taking on opponents in battles, as it allows the Pokemon to predict their foe’s next move. However, seeing the future can also be a burden, causing Pokemon to see the end of their Trainer’s life, and even the end of the world. Nevertheless, it’s a strong skill reserved for powerful Pokemon.

7 Weather Reporter: Espeon

The Psychic Pokemon Espeon uses its abilities to protect itself and its Trainer from danger. According to its Pokedex entries, it uses the fur on its body to sense air currents, which helps it to “predict its enemy's actions” and gives it the upper hand in battle, meaning it’s never caught off guard.

As well as predicting the movements of its foes, Espeon can see what the weather will be like in the future. The sunshine boosts the energy in the orb on its head, as stated in its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, so it no doubt uses its power to see when this will happen.

6 Royal Foreteller: Calyrex

Calyrex is a Psychic and Grass-type legendary Pokemon that can be encountered in The Crown Tundra expansion pass in Pokemon Sword & Shield. According to the Galar region’s mythology, Calyrex was once a king; however, it was forgotten as time went on.

On the Sword & Shield official website, it says that Calyrex can “see every past, present, and future event” - an ability that it used as Shadow Rider Calyrex too. Shadow Rider Calyrex’s Pokedex entry in Shield says that it “saved the creatures of a forest from a meteorite strike” because it foresaw this event happening. Calyrex uses its powers to protect its subjects, shielding them from any possible harm.

5 Pokemon Prophet: Delphox

Delphox has a witch-like appearance with a branch that it uses as a wand and fur that’s shaped like a robe. In fact, the etymology of Delphox’s name is rooted in an ancient Greek myth, combining “Delphic” and “fox.” The Oracle of Delphi was a priestess known to predict the future through prophecies, as well as offer advice on behalf of Apollo.

With such connections, it’s unsurprising that Delphox can also see the future. Delphox uses the flame on its branch to enter a trance-like state of mind, allowing it to see visions of future events. Unlike the Oracle of Delphi, though, Delphox most likely uses this ability in battle rather than to help others with their problems.

4 Remembers The Past, Sees The Future: Alakazam

Alakazam is capable of immense psychic power - in fact, lots of its Pokedex entries mention its intelligence associated with this power. It has an intensely strong memory that allows it to remember everything it has learned and seen. Like many other Psychic-type Pokemon, Alakazam can use Future Sight, allowing other Psychic-type Pokemon, Alakazam can use Future Sight, which allows it to foresee the opportune time to attack.

Alakazam’s Pokedex entries reference how it uses its ability to see the future in its Mega form. It can “foresee all things,” using its abilities to dodge incoming attacks, according to Ultra Moon and Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee.

3 Between Dimensions: Kirla And Gardevoir

Kirlia is a Psychic and Fairy-type Pokemon known for its graceful demeanor - it will even dance when it’s content. It can use its psychic abilities to understand emotions and “project visions of paradise,” according to Legends: Arceus. This skill also has great power; it can tear apart dimensions, allowing it to see what the future holds.

It retains this power when it evolves into Gardevoir, often using this ability to protect its Trainer. As its Pokedex entries mention its ability to create “a small black hole,” it’s implied that Gardevoir is using its power in a similar way to Kirlia.

2 Eyeing The Future: Xatu

The Mystic Pokemon Xatu’s appearance draws inspiration from Native American totems and has a majestic bird design. Xatu is known to “stand motionless” and gaze at the sun for the entire day, and its stationary nature has led to people speculating about it having clairvoyance.

Supposedly, Xatu uses its right eye to see the future and its left eye to see the past. According to Ultra Moon, even though it can see what’s going to happen in the future, “it has no desire to change it” - perhaps it feels as though nature should simply run its course. Its ability to see the future has also caused some to “revere it as a mystical Pokemon.”

1 The Burden Of The Future: Gothitelle

Known as the Astral Body Pokemon, Gothitelle has psychic abilities that allow it to perform a multitude of skills, including seeing the future. Its Pokedex entries say that it can predict the future, using astrology to discern the position of the stars and what that means.

Gothitelle’s Pokedex entries also state that “it has seen the end of all existence” - something that understandably made the Pokemon aloof. Sadly, using its powers of foresight, Gothitelle is even able to see the end of its Trainer’s life, which makes it “cr[y] in sadness.” Its Pokedex entries show that being able to see the future does have its consequences.
