"Such A Scumbag Move": Pokemon Fans Aren't Happy About Legends Z-A Getting Paid DLC Before Release

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is just over a month away right now, and naturally, you'd assume that all of Nintendo and Game Freak's efforts would go towards promoting the base game at the moment. You wouldn't assume that they'd announce a pretty expensive DLC expansion to the game despite it not having launched yet, but that's only what they went and did.
During Nintendo's big Direct earlier today, Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension was announced, which we know extremely little about apart from the fact that it stars Hoopa, and will give Raichu two new Mega Evolutions. In fact, we know so little about the DLC that you'd wonder why Nintendo chose to announce it in the first, especially now that quite a few Pokemon fans are up in arms about it.
Pokemon Fans Are Upset Over Legends Z-A Mega Dimensions DLC Announcement
Thanks to this DLC being announced before the base game has even launched, Pokemon fans are understandably wondering exactly why it just isn't part of Legends: Z-A. In a Reddit post by a user called CuttlefishMonarch, you can find a gaggle of Pokemon fans slinging insults at Game Freak, calling the announcement "a scumbag move", demanding that the developer "just put it in the game", and accusing it of slicing Legends: Z-A up so they can get away with selling it for $100.
It's a similar story in the DLC's official announcement trailer too. You have comments claiming that Game Freak is "finally admitting their DLC is deliberately cut content", while also harkening back to the days of Pokemon games having interesting post-game stories that were part of their base games. All of this is reflected in the trailer's like to dislike ratio too, with the video sitting at a pretty whopping 15k dislikes compared to 10k likes.
To be fair to Game Freak, it does seem as though this is a case of Mega Dimension just not being quite ready yet. We saw extremely little of it in the actual trailer, so it's not like they have a full DLC package ready to go and Game Freak is just withholding it. That being said, announcing a $30 DLC for a game that isn't even out yet isn't a great look, and this is one announcement that the studio may have wanted to wait a couple of months before making.
