As with the previous DLC for The Rise of the Golden Idol, Royal Blood starts with an exciting bang. As is tradition with this game, we have a murder to solve and plenty of clues that help us do this. What we don't have is any information about why the murder was committed in the first place, but we'll get to that later.

There are eight new characters to identify in this episode! As ever, we have clues to help you work things out and the answers hidden under the spoiler.

  • The king's identity will require that you examine the portraits you can find carefully. Don't be fooled by the modernity of the clothes worn - try examining the backgrounds.
  • There is a king and his two children. They share a surname.
  • Lots of names will be easy to deduce based on dialogue and documents addressed to those who hold them.
  • Two people don't have names just yet, they have job titles. To work out who is who, you'll need to figure out the exact time of day and use this to work out how far into the proceedings events are.

All Event Solutions

The goal here is to work out exactly what led to the king's death and how the killer escaped.

  • You'll know the time of day at this point, and thus will know the players at hand. Think about precisely who should be in the room and who should not.
  • The usher's statement can't be true, can it? What does this mean?
    • Examine her words. Examine the speech prepared for the king to record. Notice anything?
  • There are three ways to exit the room: the main door, the window, and the trap door. Two of these are red herrings. To be more blunt: ignore words like locked and unlocked.
  • The cause of death is quite easy to find and then pair with something from the pile of gifts.
  • Take note of the fabric you can find in the trash can.
  • Also, take note of the speaker in the hallway. Is there a reason that's there?

Solution

As Lutri Manzek recorded his speech, first sentinel killed him with a dagger from a statuette. Afterwards, the killer moved the body.

To escape, first sentinel edited the speech and played it for Beka Shabak, who then let the killer out.
