Legendary Pokemon are typically extremely difficult to obtain in most games in the Pokemon franchise, but this is not necessarily the case when it comes to Pokemon Go. The majority of Legendary Pokemon available in Pokemon Go can be acquired through Raiding, a cooperative activity requiring you to battle these powerful Pokemon.

This is the primary method for obtaining Raikou, rewarding you with an encounter and chance to catch this Pokemon upon its defeat in its own Five-Star Raid. With Raikou being a strong and sought-after Legendary Pokemon, we've got everything you need to know to complete this particular Raid below.

Recommended Group Size

Even with a team full of powerful Pokemon on your side, Raikou's Five-Star Raid will still be a difficult one to successfully complete. To even have a chance of defeating Raikou, you will most definitely have to attempt this with a group of other players.

It will prove to be challenging to complete with Raid with fewer than four to six players total, so make sure that you're doing your best to go into this Raid with a sufficient number of people in your group. Even with this larger group size, this Raid will be difficult, so make sure to come prepared with your most powerful Pokemon.

If you are attempting this Raid with a smaller group or one containing less experienced players, make sure to take advantage of Mega Evolutions and Primal Reversions.

Using these features will power-up a Pokemon of yours, as well as improve certain attacks that both you and your teammates use.

Raikou: Strengths And Weaknesses

Like with other pure Electric-type Pokemon, Raikou only has a handful of strengths and weaknesses in this Raid battle. That being said, it is important that you are building your Raid team around these specific type advantages and disadvantages.

Fortunately, there are only three different types of attacks that Raikou is resistant to, reducing the number of Pokemon that you'll have to avoid using in this Raid. For the purposes of this Raid, refrain from using any Flying, Steel,orElectric-type Pokemon or attacks.

There is only one type of attack that Raikou is weak against due to its typing: Ground-type attacks. Although this greatly limits the number of optimal Pokemon to use in this Raid, it is essential that you are taking advantage of this vulnerability when deciding which Pokemon to battle with.

If the Ground-type Pokemon that you use are equipped with Ground-type attacks, they will receive an attack boost.

This is called Same Type Attack Bonus, and applies to any Pokemon using attacks that match their type.

Raikou: Best Counter Picks

As mentioned previously, the best options for Pokemon to use in this Raid are mostly Ground-type Pokemon that use Ground-type attacks. These will not only deal the most damage when they are attacking, but will also be resistant to Electric-type attacks, allowing them to survive longer in battle.

To help with your Pokemon selection, we have put together a list of the top 25 Pokemon that counter Raikou in this Five-Star Raid and their recommended attacks, overwhelmingly consisting of Ground-types.

Don't feel like you need to create a team strictly using the Pokemon found below, as this is not always possible.

In this case, if you are unsure which of your Pokemon to use, it's best to use other strong Ground-type Pokemon.
