The Mega Evolution feature has become a staple for Pokemon Go, giving you the opportunity to power up specific Pokemon to increase their effectiveness on the battlefield. These Mega Evolutions can only be acquired using Mega Energy, a resource earned from successfully completing Mega Raids.

Mega Scizor is among the available Mega Evolutions currently in Pokemon Go, proving to be an extremely powerful Bug and Steel dual-type Pokemon. To gain access to this Mega Evolution, you'll need to first defeat Mega Scizor in its Mega Raid, proving to be a tough opponent without the proper preparations.

Fortunately, Mega Scizor's Mega Raid proves to be one of the easiest to complete in the game, requiring far fewer players to defeat it compared to others.
With this in mind, Mega Scizor can be defeated with as little as two to four Trainers in your Raid group, allowing you to easily earn its Mega Energy.
That being said, if you are attempting this with a small group, it's recommended that you and your allies use strong Mega Scizor counters.
This is especially true if you are attempting to take on this Raid on your own. Although it is possible to defeat Mega Scizor in this Mega Raid solo, you will need to be using top-tier counters; otherwise, you will prove to be unsuccessful.
If you are attempting this Raid either solo or with a small group of Trainers, make sure to Mega Evolve or Primal Revert Pokemon in your Raid party.
This will not only increase the power of the Mega Evolved or Primal Reverted Pokemon but will also increase the damage of certain attacks for all participants battling in the Raid.
Mega Scizor: Strengths And Weaknesses
With its specific strengths and weaknesses due to its dual-typing, there are very specific Pokemon you'll want to use and avoid using when attempting Mega Scizor's Mega Raid.
First, this Pokemon has nine different type resistances on the battlefield:
- Normal
- Bug, Steel
- Psychic
- Ice
- Dragon
- Fairy
- Poison
- Grass
This greatly reduces the number of viable Pokemon to use when attempting to defeat Mega Scizor in this Mega Raid.
Although you'll want to avoid using any type that Mega Scizor has resistance to, this is especially true when using Poison and Grass-type Pokemon.
Attacks of these two types have a double weakness against Mega Scizor, dealing significantly less damage than other types.
Discussing Mega Scizor's weaknesses, this Pokemon is only vulnerable to one type of attack:Fire.
Although this also limits your options, Mega Scizor has a double weakness to Fire-type attacks, making them extremely effective.
For this Raid, you'll want to use Fire-type Pokemon with Fire-type attacks, activating the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB).
This occurs when you use Pokemon with attacks that match their typing, increasing the damage their attacks deal.

Mega Scizor: Best Counter Picks
With Mega Scizor's double weakness to Fire-type attacks, it's best to use Pokemon with Fire-type moves, and even better to use actual Fire-type Pokemon so they can get STAB.
For this reason, the Pokemon that counter Mega Scizor most effectively are all Fire-types with matching attacks, each provided below with their optimal combination of moves.
Below you will find the best Mega Scizor counters that are currently available in Pokemon Go, but there are other options.
As long as you're using strong Fire-type Pokemon with Fire-type attacks, you should easily be able to complete this Mega Raid.
