Pokemon Go is known for their collaboration events, cross-overs with other properties and releases within the Pokemon franchise. The latest of these events is the Detective Pikachu Returns Event, inspired by Pokemon's latest Nintendo Switch release, Detective Pikachu Returns.

PostsUnfortunately, this limited-time event will only be taking place over the course of five days, available to all players from Thursday, October 5, at 10am local time to Monday, October 9, at 8pm local time. There will be extremely rare event-themed Pokemon available during this event in addition to different in-game bonuses, so we've put together a guide to take full advantage of this particular event.
Event Wild Encounter Pokemon
There will be several event-themed Pokemon spawning in the wild during the five days of the Detective Pikachu Returns Event, including the rare costumed Pikachu wearing a detective hat.
Below you can find each of these event wild encounter Pokemon.
If you evolve a Pikachu wearing a detective hat, the Raichu you get will also be wearing a detective hat.

Event Bonuses
There will be two different bonuses available to all players during the days of the Detective Pikachu Returns Event. First, you will receive double the XP when spinning PokeStop Photo Discs throughout this event.
Additionally, you will be rewarded with a surprise encounter with Pikachu wearing a detective hat when taking snapshots of your buddy Pokemon each day of this event. This will only occur once a day, so make sure that you are taking advantage of this during each of the five days of this event.

Field Research Encounters
Some of the Field Research Tasks that you obtain from spinning PokeStops will be event-themed Field Research Tasks. Those that reward you with Pokemon encounters will give you the opportunity to catch either Snivy, Rowlet, or Sudowoodo.
Timed Research
There will be an event-exclusive Timed Research Story available to all players who log in and play Pokemon Go during this event. The tasks needed to complete this Timed Research will require you to complete different Field Research Tasks, rewarding you with an encounter with Pikachu wearing a detective hat.
This Timed Research Story will only be able to be completed within the duration of this event.
After it has ended, you will no longer be able to complete it or acquire rewards.
Event Collection Challenge
There will also be a Detective Pikachu Returns-themed Collection Challenge for this event. Like with those previously introduced, this will require you to catch and evolve specific event-themed Pokemon during this event.
Event Avatar Item
There will be a brand-new avatar item released in Pokemon Go for this event, the Detective Pikachu Avatar Pose. This new avatar item will be available for all players to purchase starting on Thursday, October 5.
