Summary

  • PlayStation revealed its new Chroma Collection during Tuesday night's State Of Play.
  • The collection includes three new color options for the PS5's DualSense and console covers.
  • Indigo, Pearl, and Teal controllers and covers will be available for pre-order starting October 3, 2024.

Between the PS5 Pro and the 30th-anniversary collection, PlayStation is getting a lot of new consoles and accessories between now and the end of 2024. You can now add a few new DualSense and console cover colors to that list as PlayStation provided a first look at its Chroma collection which will expand its range of controllers and cover options by three.

The Chroma collection is similar to some of the DualSense designs already available in that they're quite a bit shinier than the base version of the controller, hence the name Chroma. The three colors that make up the collection are Indigo, Pearl, and Teal. However, a follow-up providing more details on the collection posted to the PlayStation Blog explains that the Pearl is a combination of pink and cream, Indigo blends blue and purple, and Teal is an array of different shades of green.

Pre-orders for all three color options will begin on October 3, 2024, at PlayStation Direct and the Pearl and Indigo controllers and console covers will be released on November 7, 2024. Even though you will be able to pre-order the Teal accessories on October 3 too, the wait for them to ship will be a little longer as they won't arrive until January 23, 2025. A similar situation to the color options PlayStation revealed almost exactly one year ago where the red and blue controllers shipped before the holidays, but the silver section of the collection was saved until January a couple of months.

All three of the controllers will cost $79.99 each, while the covers have been priced at $64.99. This comes only a few weeks after PlayStation quietly increased the price of the DualSense in the US. On the bright side, the color options available have grown a lot over the past year, and we've still got the PS1-inspired design to come later this week which, even though it comes bundled with the anniversary PS5, will be sold separately. The same applies to the anniversary DualSense Edge even though that is bundled with the grey PS5 Pro.

Also revealed during tonight's State Of Play was a special edition Fortnite DualSense controller, although details on when that model will be released and how much it will cost won't come until a later date. The announcement was coupled with the reveal that Lego Fortnite will be getting a split-screen mode later this year.
