The many maps of Pax Dei can be a little frustrating to navigate because of how steep the topography can get and how confusing the forests can be. Luckily, you can create custom Waypoints and map markers that you can route to while exploring. This makes finding your way home so much easier.

While you can't teleport in Pax Dei, you can create custom markers on the map to then route you back home or to any other location you want to return to. You can use the wind's guidance to create a trail back to these points for you to follow whenever you are lost.

Pax Dei is an Early Access title. We will update our guides as new information as new patches and mechanics are released.

What Are Waypoints?

Waypoints are special map-markers that you can create to help guide you back to your home plot or other custom monuments. Some Waypoints come pre-made and can be found on the world map. These include the various Petra Dei Shrines littered throughout the landscape.

You can choose one of the Petra Dei shrines as your home spawn when you decide to settle down somewhere on the map. You will respawn at this shrine after each death.

How To Create Waypoints From Your Plots

To create a Waypoint from your plots, use the hammer to open the build menu. Once you are in the build menu, select the 'Plots' tab and select one of your home plots.

On the right side of your Plot screen you will find the 'Release Plot' and 'Set Waypoint' buttons. By selecting the 'Create Waypoint' button, you will assign your plot as a Waypoint on your map. Doing so will allow you to route to these Waypoints whenever you are lost.

You can assign your plots as Waypoints from any location on the map.

How To Create Custom Waypoints

If you want to create a custom Waypoint that isn't your home plot, you can open the map and use the Control Key and Left Mouse Button (Ctrl + LMB) at the same time to set a Waypoint on your map.

You can only have one Waypoint on your map at a time. You can move your Waypoints whenever you please.

You can also place Waypoints over top of existing map markers.

If you want to guide to your home shrine, open your map and use the above controls to mark it as a Waypoint. This will allow you to guide yourself to the home shrine using Guiding Wind, without having to die and respawn there.

Other Custom Markers

If you don't want to make a Waypoint, but you would like to mark a location, resource, or settlement on your map, you can enter the map screen and use the Control and Right Mouse Button keys (Ctrl + RMB) to assign markers to these locations.

You cannot use Guiding Wind to route to custom map markers. You can only use Guiding Wind to route to Waypoints.

There are several symbols to choose from when assigning markers to your map, and you can create a key of marker types to indicate what resource you are highlighting on your map.

If you find a particularly resource-dense spot, try marking it on your map with one of the custom map markers. This will make it easier for you to return to these resources the next time you run out.

How To Route To A Waypoint

If you want to get home faster, or you are struggling to remember what path you traveled away from your home plot, you can use the guidance of the wind to reroute you home.

To do this, press the 'G' key on your keyboard. This will activate the Guiding Wind ability and create a series of blue lights in the sky, illuminating the most direct route to the Waypoint on your map.

Guiding Wind does not take into effect map topography, it only gives you the most direct route to your Waypoint. You may find yourself routed to the base of unscalable mountains or through dangerous terrain.

You also cannot use Guiding Wind to route to custom map markers. You can only route to Waypoints and you can only have one Waypoint on your map at a time.

Pressing 'G' when your cursor is pointed at an interactable object will zoom in on that object for a close-up view. If you want to toggle Guiding Wind, make sure your cursor is not directed at an object you can interact with, such as a resource node or crafting station.
