Path of Exile 2 just got a new trailer at PlayStation's State of Play. Here, we got confirmation that its early access period will kick off later this year, as well as a new look at the game in action.

The trailer gives us a better idea of what we can expect from Path of Exile 2 when we get our hands on it in late 2024. Unexpectedly, one of these features will be couch co-op, something many games don't bother with in the age of online play. There will also be cross-progression, so you should be able to switch between playing on PC and console with ease.

New Path Of Exile 2 Trailer Revealed At PlayStation's State Of Play

The latest Path of Exile 2 trailer is a mix of gameplay and cutscenes, giving us a good look at the action RPG.

As previously mentioned, couch co-op might be the biggest surprise here, but it looks like it fits the game well. The overhead perspective should make it so both players get a good look at what's going on, regardless of who actually controls the camera. Online co-op is still an option if that's what you prefer, and the trailer even promises that we'll be able to play with others regardless of the platform they're on.

One feature which might turn players off Path of Exile 2 is that it requires a constant internet connection. Unfortunately, the trailer did not suggest that an offline mode is in the works. That said, we're not expecting one, given that Path of Exile 2 is a free-to-play game, and the fact that the original Path of Exile never got one either.

Path of Exile 2 is going into early access more than ten years after the launch of the first game, which was released in October 2013. This also had a free-to-play model, and will still be available to play when its successor launches later this year. In fact, Path of Exile 2 was initially intended to be an update to the original, before being reimagined as a separate game.

Path of Exile 2 will launch in early access in late 2024. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC with cross-progression between all of these platforms. It will be free to play.
