There are many more fish in Palia than it seems when you first begin working on your fishing skill. Fish may require certain locations, times of day or night, or even particular bait. There are also different quality fish: regular and gold-star. Gold-star quality fish can be displayed on your housing plot.

You can add the painted perch to your collection list as a testament to your accomplishments. If you're lucky enough you'll also be able to catch a gold-star quality version to display in its own aquarium. This common fish can only be found in one body of water.

Where To Find Painted Perch

Painted Perch can only be found in Kilima Lake. Kilima Lake is not labeled on the map, but it's the water at Fisherman's Lagoon. It's also connected to the water surrounding Kilima Village.

The large body of water at the shores of Kilima Village looks like an ocean, but that body of water is technically a lake. You can either fish at Fisherman's Lagoon or directly off the shoreline since it's all the same body of water.

You can catch this fish any time of day or night. When the event area is open, you can fish from the docks for Painted Perch there as well.

Fishing in water ripples will usually provide you with a gold-star quality fish. You also have the chance to fish chests out of the ripples.

How To Catch Painted Perch

Once you're in the proper location to fish up some Painted Perch, the next thing to worry about is what type of bait you'll need. You'll want to use regular worms to obtain this fish.

To select the bait you want, equip your fishing pole then right-click. This will open your bait menu. You can choose a bare hook, worms, or glow worms.

Painted Perch are a little more zippy than some of the other common fish you might have caught. If you find the fishing mechanic tricky, upgrading your fishing rod can help with faster fish.

You can also use items to make the task of fishing easier. Check with Einar to find recipes to make fishing easier. If you have the recipe for Fish Stew, it will give you a Minor Safe Zone Speed Boost effect to help you reel fish in more easily.

Tip: Standing near other players when fishing will give everyone a fishing boost. You'll be able to hook fish more quickly.
