Once you get through the Underground Cave in Little Witch Nobeta, you'll find Tania, a strange doll with consciousness. As you approach her, she’ll challenge you to a battle, requiring you to fight against her and work around her powerful attacks. However, she can easily defeat you if you don’t understand how to fight her.

Since Little Witch Nobeta has multiple bosses, you’ll want to learn their moves, understand the fight, and see how to defeat them. With that in mind, here, you can learn the various approaches available to take down this boss and continue through the castle.

How To Prepare For Tania's Fight

Items

Like with other bosses in the game, you'll want to fill out your inventory before the fight. You can use the following as a guideline:

  • Two health-restoring items.
  • One mana-restoring item.
  • One defense boost item.
  • One aura item.

Don't worry if you can't get that exact setup: you can easily break vases around you and collect available items. On top of that, some items have curse values, so avoid using them if you have some unspent soul essence. Use items with curse values if you don't have enough for upgrades.

Leveling Up

Even though you'll want to spread your upgrades and focus on all stats, you should keep specific ones in mind if you must do some grinding before you start the fight.

  • Stamina: You need more Stamina to dodge attacks and survive. If you run out of Stamina at any point, you'll fall over and could lose the fight. Ensure you have enough to dodge multiple times in a row, so aim for level ten if possible.
  • Intelligence: It never hurts to deal more damage. The higher your Intelligence, the faster you'll defeat the boss.
  • Dexterity: You want fast charge times, so Tania has fewer opportunities to interrupt your charge and make you lose Mana.

As for the other stats, increase them as you see fit. Put some points into HP if you tend to run out of health. Go with MP and Strength if you struggle with Mana management or keep getting your spells interrupted.

Tania's First Phase Attacks

Once you feel good about your setup and levels, you should start the fight. You'll notice a few common attacks Tania tends to use as you go through it.

  • A five-hit combo where the first four are in succession, but the last one is a delayed double-hand slam.
  • She shoots lasers in a horizontal line.
  • She dashes toward you, sticks close and does damage around her.

During this phase, you want to keep her around mid-range. That way, if she plans to do a ranged attack, she'll stand in place, but if she wants to do a melee attack, she'll move close to you. You then have an easy tell to react to the attack and act accordingly.

She'll move toward you for the five-hit combo and wait before attacking. Once the attack starts, you'll want to dodge about four or five times to the side. You'll then wait for the next attack before you dodge again. If you walk between the fourth and fifth hit, you can restore your Stamina.

For the horizontal laser, you should dodge through the laser or toward the camera to avoid it. If you're charging a spell or low on Mana, try your best to dodge through it, so you'll fill the charge faster or restore your Mana.

If she dashes toward you and begins charging her area of effect (AOE) attack, you should wait for a second before you roll away. Since the attack comes out quickly, you can't reasonably react to it, so you'll need to learn the timing.

Tania's Second Phase Attacks

Once you drop her health below half health, she'll start the second phase of the fight. During this phase, her attacks will become more powerful, and she'll have additional properties added to them.

For example, for the AOE move, she'll move toward you and pull you into the attack, so you'll need to perform multiple dodges if you want to avoid it. After using it, she'll launch three energy balls, so roll toward the attacks to avoid them and restore your Mana.

Tania will also slam the ground with her fists, sending a wave of energy at you. Just dodge to the left or right to easily avoid this attack. She also has an attack where she shoots lasers at her feet and shoots them toward you, so you can dodge them the same way.

If Tania brings her two hands together, you'll need to dodge to the side and run away constantly. If this attack hits you, you'll take consistent damage and get stunlocked, so do your best to avoid it and keep running away.

How To Defeat Tania

You'll want to follow this game plan to win the battle and maximize your odds against Tania.

The Plan

What It Involves

Why You Should Do It

Stick With Ice Spells

Don't bother with your Arcane spells, so stick with Ice throughout the battle.

If you have the Ice aura ready, you'll take less damage. Also, your charged Ice spell deals more damage than the charged Arcane spell.

Charge Between Attacks

After Tania does an attack, you should immediately charge your Ice attack. Once you have it ready, target her, confirm it's locked on, and unleash it.

Charging between attacks will help you deal as much damage as possible. Depending on your stats and the difficulty setting, it should only take ten or so charged attacks to defeat her.

Dodge Through Projectiles

Since dodging through melee attacks can pose challenges, you should dodge through the projectiles.

Doing so will restore your Mana and even fill your charge faster. For example, if she shoots a forward beam at you, you can dodge through the spell to gain the benefits.

Avoid Running

Even though you may feel tempted to run, you should stick to walking.

If you run, you'll reduce your Stamina, preventing you from avoiding an attack if you must dodge. You may also need to roll in quick succession, mainly if Tania uses her five-hit combo, so play it safe. As a general rule, avoid dropping below 50 percent Stamina to have enough for your needs.

Wait With Your Items

Hold off on using an item until Tania has just finished an attack.

If Tania attacks you while you use an item, you'll get knocked down and drop the item. You must pick it back up to heal if you want to use it. You can roll out of the animation if you don't think you'll use it in time.

General Tips

  • Don’t be afraid to redo this fight multiple times. Learning the timing and working around the stunlock moves can be tricky until you learn it.
  • You can easily fight some nearby enemies and use the Statue to respawn them if you must grind. Sometimes, the best strategy is strengthening yourself and making the battle easier.
  • If you run low on Mana, run around the arena and destroy mannequins on the ground. They'll produce Mana for you, so you won't have to risk getting close to Tania.
  • Do your best to keep Tania at a distance. She'll dash toward you if she plans to do a close-range attack, so you'll have plenty of warning.
  • If she has less than five percent of her health left, just use your standard Ice spell. Hold the fire button to shoot it as quickly as possible and drain the rest of her health.
  • Play it safe if you have a charged attack but haven't used it yet. If Tania uses an attack that applies a hard knockdown, you'll lose the charge and the Mana you spent preparing it.
