The amount of output you get from the Compost Bin varies depending on what you put into it, but it's a very handy tool to have in your village. If you need a little bit of help figuring out what you need to craft and use a Compost Bin, look no further than this guide.

How To Unlock And Craft A Compost Bin

Crafting a Compost Bin doesn't take a lot of resources, but you first need to unlock the recipe.

If you have a Lumber Mill already placed in your village, simply interact with it once to unlock the Compost Bin build recipe. If you don't already have the Lumber Mill, you'll need to craft one first.

Once you've unlocked the recipe, to build a Compost Bin you'll need:

  • 5 Plank
  • 2 Soil
  • 1 Sand
  • 3 Fertilizer

Place the required items in your inventory, then open the build menu. The Compost Bin recipe is in the first row of the Stations tab.

How To Use A Compost Bin

Now that you've crafted the Compost Bin, what do you do with it? To use it, open the Compost Bin menu. It will show your inventory on the left. Anything that cannot be used in the Compost Bin will be grayed out and you won't be able to select it.

On the right, from top to bottom, is:

  • The Composter Queue - These are the items that are waiting to be processed.
  • Processing - These are the items currently being processed.
  • Created Compost - This is the output that you can add to your inventory to use wherever needed.

Simply toss in any organic material you have (remember all of those bones you didn't have anything to do with?), and it will turn those items into Biomass, Soil, and Fertilizer.

All the items you can use in the Compost Bin are:

  • Bones
  • Eggs
  • Raw Meat
  • Fruits and Veggies
  • Meals
  • Drinks
  • Animal and Monster Parts

Processing items in the Compost Bin takes a while, so it's a good idea to find something else to do while you're waiting for the compost to be available.
