In Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game, you need to be looking your best, whether you're hunting and harvesting Humans, or you're running away from Klowns. But it's not all about looks, either, because changing your loadout can also affect your health, stamina, strength, and more.

8 Games To Play If You Like Dead By Daylight

If you like Dead By Daylight, it's time to put your survival horror skills to the test in other games!

It's important to know how to change your loadout so you can try different play styles, experiment with different Klown weapons and tricks, and decide if you like the red hair or the purple hair the best! If you want to know how to do this, look no further. We've put together everything you need to know about changing your loadout as a Klown and a Human.

How To Change Your Loadout

To change your loadout, scroll down to Customize in the main menu. You can then choose which character you want to customize: Klown or Human.

Once you're in the loadout customizer for either Klown or Human, on the next screen you get to change other aspects of your character, such as:

  • Klowns:
    • Klown Type
    • Weapons
    • Tricks
    • Klowntality
    • Emotes
    • Avatar
  • Humans:
    • Archetype
    • Emote
    • Avatar

You'll start with one loadout slot, but as you play and level up, you'll unlock four more slots to build other loadouts. This way, you get to change and tweak things for different play styles.

Once you've loaded into a game or a lobby you won't be able to change your loadout. If you wish to make changes you'll need to leave matchmaking.

How To Change Your Klown Loadout

At first you may feel limited by the options you have for your loadout, but the more you play the game and gain experience, the more you'll eventually have to choose from.

On the bottom of the screen are the different categories you can change for your Klown. The Klown Type affects your Klown's health, stamina, and other stats as well. You can also change your weapons, cosmetics, and more.

Klown Type

There are currently five different Klown types that come with base game, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.

The different Klown types also come with default weapons and tricks, which are unlocked at the same time, but you can mix and match the weapons and tricks depending on your play style and preference.

Klown Weapons

Next you can change your Klown's cotton-candy weapon and secondary weapon. Each weapon has its pros and cons, and you are able to mix and match them between loadouts and Klown types. Be sure to try out each weapon to get a feel for them and see which you like the best.

The cotton-candy weapon is what you'll use to turn Humans into cocoons, or to cottonize escape interactions. Your secondary weapon, however, is what you will likely use to subdue unruly Humans so they can either be killed or cocooned.

Klown Tricks

The tricks are special powers given to Klowns. Every Klown has two default powers, but the third one you get to change as they're unlocked. The two default tricks are:

  • Klown Jump - You'll use the map to select an area to jump directly to.
  • LOL - Your Klown will release a maniacal cackle that refills your health, stamina, and gives you a short speed boost.

When you start a match, there is a cooldown on each trick, and they'll slowly unlock as time goes by. The first one to be ready is the Klown Jump, then LOL, then the one you selected.

As you unlock different tricks, we recommend experimenting with them to see which one fits your play style the best.

Klowntalities

When you've downed a Human, you have three options:

  • Wrap them up in a cotton-candy cocoon and hook them up to one of the generators.
  • Hit them until they're dead.
  • Kill them with a Klowntality: a silly and slightly graphic cinematic of your Klown killing the Human.

The game defaults to four Klowntalities that you can choose to use while in game. As you complete challenges you'll unlock others, and then you can come to your loadout and switch them out.

Emotes

Emotes are good to use if you aren't able to voice chat with your teammates, or you wish to communicate without being overheard. The game will come with six default emotes, but you can unlock others by completing certain challenges.

Klown Avatar

Now for the really fun part. You get to choose what your Klown looks like!

Choosing a Klown Type gives you a base skin to start with, but in Avatar Customization, you get to choose if your Klown is male or female, then you can change the face, hair, and outfits.

You'll start with a few default cosmetics, but many others will get unlocked as you level up and complete challenges. For some of the Klown Types, you will also have skin options that entirely change the look of that Klown without sacrificing the stats you want.

How To Change Your Human Loadout

Changing your Human loadout is very similar to the Klown loadout, but with fewer categories. However, humans get more cosmetic options to choose from than the Klowns do.

Let's go over everything you can change in your Human loadout.

Human Archetypes

Human archetypes are much like the Klown Types in that they give your Human differing levels of strengths and weaknesses, so you can choose which best fits you and the way you want to play the game.

Do you want to be able to get away quickly and run far? Or do you want to be up close and personal with the Klowns to make them pay? It's up to you!

Unlike the Klowns, whose base bodies are directly tied to their type, you can make your humans look however you want and still change the archetype.

Here are the different human archetypes along with their strengths and weaknesses:

Archetype

Stats

Description

Athletic

  • 3 Health Bars
  • Strength(s): Stamina, Movement
  • Weakness(es): Strength

If staying away from Klowns is what you do best, this archetype is for you. What you'll lack in strength, you make up for in the ability to run away from danger. Make sure you keep energy items in your inventory to aid you.

Rebellious

  • 3.1 Health Bars
  • Strength(s): Stamina, Movement
  • Weakness(es): Strength

A rebellious archetype is going to be best at throwing things at the Klowns to aid in your escape. You have a little less Stamina and Movement than the Athletic type, but just a little bit more Strength. Use that Strength to throw bricks at the Klowns, then pop an energy drink and run for your life.

Heroic

  • 3.2 Health Bars
  • Strength(s): Strength
  • Weakness(es): Movement

Your altruistic nature shines through as you help rescue your teammates from being harvested. Use your superior strength to knock a Klown down a peg or two while your friend runs away to safety. Make sure you have an axe or lead pipe available to bash in some Klown noses!

Resourceful

  • 2.9 Health Bars
  • Strength(s): Strength
  • Weakness(es): Stamina

Tinkering with machines is more your thing. You're the group mechanic, so finding all the parts you need to repair escape routes is what you'll do best. You have just enough strength to fix the machines, but you won't be able to run away as well, so make sure you keep a low profile.

Tough

  • 3.3 Health Bars
  • Strength(s): Strength
  • Weakness(es): Stamina, Movement

You are the tank of the group and are ready to take the fight to the Klowns rather than run and hide. You don't have much stamina anyway, so use your strength to deal with the Klowns face-to-face while your teammates unlock the escape routes.

Emotes

Emotes are a great way to communicate with your fellow Humans when voice isn't an option or you don't want to be overheard by the Klowns.

You'll start with a few default emotes, like Go There or Shush, but there are a couple you can unlock by completing challenges.

Here are all the emotes you can have as a Human:

Shush

I See You

Human Basics: Loot 50 Containers.

Human Basics: Discover 10 other Humans

Human Avatar

Now it's time to customize what your Human looks like! The first thing you can choose is whether you're male or female, then go to Head. Here you can customize:

  • Face
  • Hair (style and color)
  • Skin tone
  • Eyes
  • Upper Accessory (hats)
  • Lower Accessory (glasses)
  • Makeup
  • Voice

Next is outfit, where you can change the Top, Bottoms, or use a full body option that you may have unlocked. When you select the clothing that you want, you can then choose which color option you prefer.

The final section for Avatar customization is Special Character, where you can choose an entirely different skin for your Human character.

For the special characters, you can customize things like the archetype or the emotes, but you won't be able to change any of the cosmetics on them.
