Kamaitachi is the first boss where Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess really shifts from tower defense to action game. You're forced to fight a flying monster on a cramped stage, without the ability to call on the villagers for help lest you leave Yoshiro completely undefended.

Fortunately though, it's a relatively simple boss fight with an attack pattern that most players can understand quickly and also frequently leaves itself vulnerable to your Tsuba Guards. That doesn't mean players should get cocky, however. Letting your guard down for a second allows Kamaitachi to take down Soh with two hits.

Defeat the boss in under 1:30

Before taking on Kamaitachi, it's a good idea to upgrade your archers to the third rank so they can help to lower Kamaitachi's resist gauge, as you'll have less opportunity to do it with your own Tsuba Guard.

You should take at least two archers into this fight, and place them on one of the ledges on either side of the stage.

If you value doing smaller amounts of damage over time, make your last two units archers, and if you want to do more damage in bursts when the boss lands on the ground, make them woodcutters.

Either way, place them in the middle of the map, blocking the way to Yoshiro.

When choosing your talismans, focus on ones that will help Yoshiro and the villagers, as they'll be dealing with regular Seethe while you have the boss's attention focused on Soh, and at this point in the game, nothing you give Soh will meaningfully help survive getting hit by the boss.

How To Beat Kamaitachi

When you start the fight, Kamaitachi will be in the air, and your ground units can't easily attack it.

Kamaitachi's main attack involves letting out a screech, spinning, and then slashing at Soh for massive damage. You can parry this with your sword, and if you time it right, it will stun the boss close to the ground, at which point you can use your Tsuba Guard.

Kamaitachi follows Soh around, so you should avoid going near Yoshiro.

If you can't get the parry timing correct, don't worry. When Kamaitachi uses its unblockable attack, it will get its claw stuck in the ground, allowing Soh and your ground units to wail on it.

Kamaitachi will call reinforcements, but you should not use the Attack or Defend orders and jeopardize your placement. As they are, your villagers can keep Yoshiro safe.

Repeat this process until Kamaitachi is defeated, which should take about two to four minutes on your first attempt. If Kamaitachi hits Soh, it will take a massive chunk out of their HP bar, so prioritize not getting hit above all else.

About halfway through the fight, Kamaitachi will start disappearing and reappearing, but will always show back up near Soh. If you want to play it safe, parry as soon as it disappears.
