Summary

  • Star Wars Battlefront 2 player numbers reportedly spiked to over 100,000 across all platforms on May 4, with numbers still holding steady.
  • According to an insider, player numbers are holding out at around 80-90k a day, meaning potentially millions are playing every week.
  • We'll likely see a drop-off soon, but this should be good ammunition for those that want to see EA make Star Wars Battlefront 3.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 has been enjoying a resurgence recently, most likely spurred on by May 4 and all the Star Wars-related shenaningans that surround the day. Earlier this week, the game went from around 1k players on Steam to over 5k on May 4, and that number then jumped again to 6k a day later. Ever since, the game has been hitting 6k rather reliably, almost hitting 8k players a few days ago.

Those are just the Steam numbers, but it's safe to assume that the rise in players will be trending similarly on other platforms, and Steam is actually the place where Battlefront 2 is played the least. You'll more than likely find more people playing on console or on PC through EA's own app, but unfortunately, these platforms don't have the same tracking features that Steam has in SteamDB.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Is Reportedly Still Maintaining Around 90k Players A Day

Thankfully, we have insiders to give us all of those juicy details. Earlier today, an insider called BattlefrontUpdates on Twitter - who is generally regarded as trustworthy within the Battlefront community - claimed that Star Wars Battlefront 2 players numbers spiked to over 100,000 players across all platforms on May 4, and that the game has been holding strong ever since.

In fact, BattlefrontUpdates has claimed that Star Wars Battlefront 2 has been managing to set player numbers of around 80-90k every day since May 4, which is hugely impressive considering EA has barely touched the title for over five years. It's a pretty clear sign that Star Wars fans are itching for a Battlefront experience, which will be great news for those petitioning for a third game from EA.

It remains to be seen whether Star Wars Battlefront 2 can hold the players it has, especially with so little in terms of official support, but it's definitely a great time to jump back in for a few games. We may see a drop when Andor and Fortnite's latest season start to wind down, so if you've been hankering for some chaotic Battlefront action recently, get in there.
