Enri Village is the first giant paradigm shift you'll experience in Kunitsu Gami: The Path of the Goddess. Up to this point, you have been playing an action title that incorporates light RTS elements. However, in Enri Village, the Hidarugami will possess Yoshiro at the beginning of the night, making it impossible for the spirit warrior Soh to maintain their corporeal form.

Since you will be unable to fight with Soh, you're going to need to position your troops thoughtfully and lead them to victory from the sidelines. This guide will tell you everything you need to know about the Enri Village stage. From where the Defilements are located to the best villager positions for claiming victory, we'll tell you everything you need to know to succeed.

Overview Of Enri Village

This is one of the few battles in the game where Soh will not be available. Once the night comes, Soh will be completely out of commission. This battle is fought exclusively by directing your villagers and healing them with rations. There are two paths the Seethe will take to get to Yoshiro: they'll travel along the road that winds around the perimeter of the stage, or they will trek up the stone steps that are located in center of the stage (to the right of Yoshiro). You will need to defend both positions.

There is an area that is next the Seethe's Torii gate spawn point that can be fortified with a Barrier and a Bolstering Ring (your Carpenter will need to repair both). Depending on how much you have invested in your Archers, this will be the cornerstone of your strategy, as it is a powerful position for your archers to attack from.

Recommended Equipment

You won't need to worry about Tsuba Guards, as you won't be able to use any of them. For Mazo Talismans, you'll want to take the Demon Seat into this stage. The other Mazo Talisman we'll want is the Happiness & Anger Talisman, which we'll obtain by purifying the eight Defilements found in Enri Village (equip it once you unlock it, of course).

While Tsuba Guards are useless when you first encounter this stage, they aren't useless if you are playing it later, after you have unlocked Toda's Snare during the Okumiyama Passage stage. You can place up to three mines down using Toda's Snare during the day phase.

Defilement Locations

You'll find one Defilementto your left at the beginning of the stage on the main road (1/8), another is down the stone steps next to Yoshiro (2/8). Head back to the main road and travel down it. Once path starts to curve you'll find another Defilement on your left (3/8). Keep following the main road and once it opens up into the clearing, there will be a Defilement on your right (4/8). Head for the defiled Torii Gate and there will be Defilement close to it on the left (5/8), and another in between it and the Barrier in the clearing (6/8). Finally, there is a Defilement in the house with the straw roof (7/8), and another behind that same house (8/8).

Treasure Chest Locations

You will have just obtained the Thief role and you'll now have the perfect occasion for using it. You'll find that there is a treasure chest close to the Torii gate where the Seethe will emerge from. It is next to the main path, close to the Defilement closes to the Torii gate. There are two more Treasure Chests located next to the house with the thatched roof in the clearing.

Carpenter Repair Priorities

I'm going to recommend two approaches. If you have done some of the bonus missions, and you have your Woodcutters and Archers built up to level 3, your priority should be to repair the Barrier and the Bolstering Ring that is next to the Seethe spawn point. Your secondary priority will be the Barrier that blocks the roadway and the Barrier blocking the stairs that travel up the rocky outcrop in the center of the stage. The strategy here will revolve around boxing the Seethe in at the Torii gate where they spawn. You'll do this by having your Archers fire volleys of arrows at the Seethe from behind the nearby Barrier, while the Woodcutters obstruct their path forward on the road.

Alternate Strategy: Weak Troop Repair Priorities

If your troops are on the weaker side, then we're going to change our approach. We're going to build the wall in front of the stone steps in the center, and up the road that leads to the Seethe's spawn point (this will be the second gate, not the third closest to the Seethe). We'll also repair the Bolstering Rings located next to both barriers. The idea here is to split the Seethe, have them bunch up against those walls, and use your Archers to dismantle them while the Woodcutters act as additional damage and backup (in case the Barriers are breached).

Unit Composition And Placement

You need 1500 Crystals to get the Hidarugami off Yoshiro. You should be able to come into the stage with at least 500 Crystals (if you have upgraded your villages fully before reaching this stage, that could be as high as 800 Crystals). There are 450 crystals available to you by purifying Defilements (both big and small). Additionally, there are the three Treasure Chests we mentioned eariler. Depending on the level of your Thief, each will yield anywhere from 50 to 150 crystals. As long as your Thief has received their first two upgrades (costing a total of 10 Musubi), you'll get 100 Crystals from each chest. Which means that you should always be able to get 700 Crystals in the day phase (it would be 750, but it costs 50 Crystals to give a Villager the Thief role).

If you are paying attention, that does mean that if you have fully repaired Myoko Pass, Kakaeshi Grove, and Yuan Cavern, and you brought in the maximum Crystals allowed, you will be able to give Yoshiro the 1500 Crystals she needs immediately when night sets in. Don't bother wasting your Crystals on giving Villagers roles, just hand her the Crystals be done with it.

You will have eight villagers available to you. If you aren't planning to pursue the bonus missions, you can just switch your thief back to a Woodcutter, and then have four Woodcutters and four Archers. If you are pursuing that goal (which you probably should, as it will get you a Mezo Talisman), you will be short a villager, as you won't be able to change your thief back to another role. However, if your Woodcutters and Archers have received their first three upgrades, then three Woodcutters will be able to hold their own with the support of your Archers. Soh will also still be able to provide support by healing them with rations as well. Additionally, if things get particularly rough, you can order your troops behind the barriers we told you to construct.

Weak Troop Repair Priorities

If you haven't upgraded your Villager roles, then have one group hunker down, behind the Barrier, on the stretch of the main road with the Bolstering Ring, and another group hunker down behind the barrier on the steps that lead up the center of the stage. You will want to have at least one Woodcutter to run interference if the Barrier falls, but the primary strategy here is to pepper the Seethe with arrows from your Archers, which will hit harder due to the Bolstering Ring.

When the particularly tough Seethe stumbles through the Torii gate after the first wave, you'll probably want to unify your forces at the Bolstering Ring on the main road. Even with base-level units, you will be able to hold down this position due to the Bolstering Ring enhancing your Villagers' attack power.

Bonus objectives

Here we'll give you a quick rundown of everything you need to know about the bonus objectives for the Enri Village stage.

  • Consume 1900 or fewer crystals - Since you need 1500 crystals for Yoshiro, that means you can only spend 400 crystals on troop roles. We wrote this guide with this in mind, so the above strategies should earn you this Mezo Talisman.
  • Assign villagers 5 or more different roles - This one is pretty self-explanatory. However, you will need to come back to this stage in order to complete this objective.
  • Purify 5 wild animals - There are two deer on the main path that snake around the perimeter of the stage. There are three more deer in the clearing (near the house with the thatched roof), and there is one more deer beside the Torii gate.
