Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is almost here, bringing with it faithful recreations of many standout moments from the original game. One of these moments is, of course, Cloud and the party's time at the Golden Saucer, which sees our hero and one lucky party member go on a lovely little date which is capped off with an intimate moment on the park's famous Ferris Wheel.

In the original game, who Cloud goes on a date with is dependent on your dialogue choices throughout the main story, as certain options would make Cloud lean towards one character or the other. It was a little difficult to tell which options would get you which characters, but Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase told TheGamer that it'll be much easier to determine this time around.

Just like in the original, the Golden Saucer date will depend on choices you make throughout the game, but Kitase explains that players will be able to clearly see their affinity levels with certain characters whilst playing. This change was made as there were concerns during development that fans might ignore certain content if they thought it might negatively impact their chances at getting their desired date, with worries that players would "maybe get a little caught up in and a bit defensive of it all".

In that sense, we felt that having parameters where you see the affinity level with each character and having that visible and trackable by players throughout the game would help alleviate that issue.

On top of that, players will also have plenty more opportunities to interact with their desired date thanks to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's addition of side quests. Hamaguchi explains that players will be able to undertake a series of "mercenary quests" that will pair Cloud with another party member, with the aim of these missions to help build his relationship with the rest of the party with one-on-one bonding sessions.

Thanks to these changes, if you're hankering for some time alone with Tifa or want to take Barrett for a wild night out between bros, you'll be able to do so a lot more easily. It'll also be nice to interact with your party as you would normally, without having to second-guess your actions because you might not get to hang out with Yuffie later down the line.

Thankfully, we won't have to wait much longer to experience the new and improved Golden Saucer for ourselves, as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches at the end of the month on February 29. If you can't wait until then, PlayStation recently announced during its latest State of Play that a demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is available to play right now, which will take you on a trip with Cloud and Sephiroth through the Nibelheim episode.
