The combat is turn-based and you choose which cards your three units will use in the heat of battle. You’ll be able to have the three active party members on the field and can have three reserve characters in your backup in case you need them.
While the first three chapters of the story can be a little slow, it's in chapter four when the story starts finding its true identity within the greater Fate universe. It’s missing some of the features that are otherwise standard in other gacha games, such as auto-battle, but if you’re a fan of the series or turn-based combat, you can’t find a better place to start.

If you like a fast-paced game with nice graphics, give Punish: Gray Raven a look.

1 Honkai Impact 3rd
What better way to come full circle than to play the original game? Honkai Impact 3rd takes place in the same universe as Star Rail, but the connections between the two are minimal at best. The combat is the biggest difference between the two, as Honkai Impact 3rd is an action-oriented game.
They also share a lot of the same science fiction roots of space travel, interdimensional travel, and a galaxy-ending plague threatening all life in existence. It’s everything fans of Mihoyo have come to expect, and the story is treated with care.
