The kingdom of Pharloom in Hollow Knight: Silksong is not exactly known for its high-value culinary culture. Of its greatest dishes, you will have to find and prepare a delicacy of 'Roach Guts' (which likely sounds as appealing as they taste) to satisfy two hungry bugs on Sinner's Road.

Unfortunately, this grotesque delight is harbored by an even more off-putting host: the muckroaches. As anyone who has spent enough time in Sinner's Road can tell you, the dogs are not friends; the dogs are terrible. Not only must you track down these infuriating bug-pooches, you must repeatedly put yourself into combat with one of the worst mid-game enemies.

How To Start The Roach Guts Wish

Crull and Benjin are located on Sinner's Road, an optional side area northeast of Greymoor. They reside in the area two exits east of the Sinner's Road bench in the top right corner.

This particular room is noted by several hanging boxes and platforms on the map (sold by Shakra, left of the bench). To reach this house, you need to pogo off several swinging star-maces that hang from the ceiling.

Speaking with Crull, you should accept his offer to begin the quest. This will allow you to start collecting roach guts from muckroaches in the area. You need ten of them to complete his Wish.

And muckroaches, for those who are not familiar with the name, are those annoying dog-like bugs you encountered on your way into Sinner's Road for the first time.

We recommend accepting this offer immediately before venturing further into the Sinner's Road. If you accept at the start of your adventure, you should naturally meet this requirement before you reach Bilewater.

How To Find Muckroaches

Muckroaches can be found in several locations in the Sinner's Road, but there are two rooms where several muckroaches spawn:

  1. The first Sinner's Road room is connected to Greymoor in the southwest corner.
  2. Top horizontal room on the east side.

The best is the first option as it is the easiest and least perilous room to reach from the Sinner's Road bench. There are no fewer than four muckroaches in that room, and you can easily separate or group them together depending on your preferences.

These crafty little buggers are a pain in the mandibles to fight. Not hard; simply tedious. They deal two masks of damage if they get hold of you, and one misstep can snowball into a disaster.

To get the best of these dog-like bugs, we recommend fighting them with these tips in mind:

  • Use Sting Shard or Silkshot traps to eliminate them quickly without getting involved.
  • If you prefer nail combat, hit them once and then quickly step back to let them make their response.
  • Remember that muckroaches can leap forward up to two times for an attack, so do not attack more than once with a nail at a time.
  • When you have enough silk built up, you can use Silkspear to clear a muckroach quickly.

Once they are defeated, you can pick up a single roach gut from their corpse.

With ten roach guts accumulated, return to Creig and Benjin at their home in the central chamber. They're hungry, so don't keep them waiting and give them their roach guts.

In return for your generosity, they will reward you with the Tacks trap. This item can be equipped at your next bench and can be:

  1. Used against enemies that walk or slam into the ground
  2. Reconstructed with shards

Not a bad price for ridding the road of some of its worst occupants!
