Who's ready to make movies?
PostsFrom experience to personal beliefs, there's a wide variety of people to choose from, with even more available as you expand your studio. Here's everything you need to know to pick the best employees for your film studio (and avoid the bad apples in the mix).
How To Hire New Employees
Whenever you complete a new structure that offers services, you'll be prompted to hire a new set of staff members to manage it. The headquarters building hosts a variety of services, from PR to legal representation.
You'll also hire security teams, directors, composers, and more creatives to make your movies a reality. However, not all employees are the same. They have numerous stats, from levels to preferences in genre and specialty.
Employees can have negative traits as well, indicated on the purple banners next to their faces.
Employees staffed by default won't give you much choice, as they have contracts for you to complete. While contracts can be broken or renegotiated, it can be costly and often easier to just ride it out.
What Are Negative Traits?
Negative traits are characteristics that can complicate the creative processes. For example, addictions and perfectionism can leave your employees in a bad spot when left unchecked.
Compulsive gamblers may ask for leave to deal with debts, halting progress on a project altogether.
Additionally, you may end up with a biased employee. These sorts of traits, like racism or misogyny, can create a hostile work environment. Negative biases will impact work and make the production processes more complicated. When you can, try to avoid these types of employees in favor of a better studio in the long-run.
You can find new talent in creative departments by using structures like the Casting Office to attract new hires.
How To Manage Talent
Employees, once hired, have two stats: happiness and loyalty. With both of these stats high, your staff will love working with you and defend the company against scandal. If either gets too low, you may be at risk for sabotage, violence, or even death.
Throughout the year in game, you'll have different opportunities to raise these stats, whether you give employees vacation time, encourage them to slack off, or find creative solutions to problems.
For example, if an actor wants to bring their small, constantly-barking dog on set, you can either:
- Find someone to give the dog a walk.
- Forbid the employee from bringing the animal on set.
- 'Take care' of the problem with physical means.
Each option has a different outcome, and as long as you're willing to make a few sacrifices, there's often a way to make everyone happy. Of course, you're not obligated to keep the peace. Just be ready to face the consequences of your actions when they arise.
