Spider-Man: The Great Web Multiplayer Trailer Leaks, Includes Spider-Gwen

One of the things we learned in the massive Insomniac leak in late 2023 was that the studio had been working on a multiplayer game set in the Spider-Man universe, Spider-Man: The Great Web. Amongst the chaotic discussion over ethical news coverage and the headline reveals of an upcoming Venom game and a major leak of Wolverine development footage, the multiplayer game didn't gain too much traction. But now a trailer for the game seems to have leaked, and it appears to be further along in development than we thought
It was suspected to have been already cancelled at the time of the leaks, and nothing more than concept art was revealed at the time. It was unclear if it had ever gotten past the concepting stage. But if this trailer is legitimate, and it certainly seems to be polished and official, it could have been much further along than first thought. Posted on Twitter by @SaiyanDeezy, there's no information on where the trailer came from as it was not part of the original leak.
The trailer (voiced by Peter Parker himself, Yuri Lowenthal), shows Peter, Miles, and other Spideys beating up various villains with similar combat to the three single-player games in the series. All of the villains shown off already feature in these three games (Mysterio, Doc Ock, Sandman, Venom, Vulture, Scorpion, and Electro), and it's clearly set in the same universe as not only do these characters look identical, but Peter also describes the prison break at the end of the first game. However, it may not just be set in the same universe...
Our First Look At Insomniac's Spider-Gwen
Miles and Peter are joined by other Spideys, including Spider-Gwen, Silk, and Miguel O'Hara, but these might not come from the same timeline. We also see the characters jumping through portals reminiscent of Spider-Verse to get around, but it's unconfirmed if this is actually the case. Though Spider-Man 2 does have a Spider-Verse Easter Egg, it also uses the portals to leap around the planet in Black Cat's mission, using the same tech Insomniac pioneered in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. It always seemed a little too impressive to only be used once, and The Great Web looks to have been the next stop, until it was cancelled. You can check out the Spider-Verse reference from the game below.
We don't see Gwen (or indeed Miguel) without their mask in the trailer, so it may not actually be Gwen Stacy, even if it's clearly her costume. It's likely not Silk, who was teased at the end of Spider-Man 2, as she's there too in her more modern costume, despite the theory that Cindy would assume the Gwen role. But there is also a fan theory that, rather than the love triangle that could be caused by Gwen's arrival, Miles' girlfriend Hailey could take on Gwen's mantle. The trailer gives nothing away here, and since this may well be the last we see of the The Great Web, we may never know.
