It Sounds Like We Won't Be Playing Hideo Kojima's Physint Until 2031 At The Earliest

Summary
- It's no secret that Hideo Kojima is a busy creator.
- Via a new interview, the legendary auteur revealed that Physint is still about five to six years away, meaning a 2030 or 2031 release.
- His focus will seemingly shift to OD, as well as the film adaptation of Death Stranding, before working on his return to action-espionage.
In early 2024, Hideo Kojima set the video game world on fire, when he revealed that he would be returning to the action-espionage genre for a new game called Physint.
Calling it the "culmination" of his life's work, Kojima announced the game during a PlayStation State of Play, as part of a partnership with PlayStation, Sony and Kojima Productions. What's more, there will also be a movie developed with Sony's Columbia Pictures label.
In the time since that announcement, however, we've heard next to nothing about Physint, and via a new interview, it sounds like it'll remain that way for some time.

It's kinda refreshing.

In a new interview with Le Film français, a weekly French magazine dedicated to the film industry, Kojima was asked about his work with A24 for the film adaptation of Death Stranding and whether Kojima himself would like to direct a movie one day.
As translated by a user on ResetEra, Kojima shared that he's had "so many offers" to direct a movie, but he also has Physint in development, along with assistance on the Death Stranding film.
"That will take me another five or six years. But maybe after that, I could finally decide to take on a film. I grew up with cinema. Directing would be, in a way, a tribute to it. Also, I'm getting older, and I'd prefer to do it while I'm still young!"
In other words, it won't be available to play until 2030 or 2031, which is quite the ways away, if we're being honest.
As it stands, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set to release next month on June 26. There's also OD, the game that Kojima is working on with Jordan Peele, which was revealed during the 2023 edition of The Game Awards. Presumably, that's Kojima's next focus, along with the A24 film, then full steam on Physint, then a movie, perhaps. Whichever way you look at it, Kojima is one busy auteur.
