Helldivers 2 leakers have been unravelling a terrifying truth over the past week. The Automatons are getting a significant upgrade. Not only are they manufacturing tanks armed to the metal teeth, but dataminer IronS1ghts has found a flamethrower as well.

We have a detailed screenshot of the backpack as well as an untextured look at the gun they'll spew fire from, burning us to a crisp. Hopefully, we'll be able to shoot at the tank to blow up the clankers, offering a new weak point as their arsenal grows.

Helldivers 2 Is Bringing Back The Immolator

For fans of the series, the flamethrower should be familiar. In the first game, one of the factions we fought against was the Cyborgs, AKA the creators of the Automatons. Among their ranks was the Immolator troop, soldiers armed with short-range flamethrowers who could melt your flesh in seconds.

They were typically deployed in pairs, meaning you'd have two streams of fire to contend with at once. If you were unlucky enough to get hit, going prone would put out the flames. Maybe this tactic will work in the sequel.

Just like with the tanks, fans are bricking it at the idea of the bots getting their cold lifeless hands on flamethrowers.

"The fu--ing what?!?!" one fan said. "Oh no," another simply wrote. "Fu-- the person who thought of this."

Hulks plus this thing plus fire tornado would be a great sight.

"NO NO NO NO NO," wrote a clearly terrified Helldiver. "I'm surprised there are no fire breathing bugs, Reign of Fire style," one fan said. Let's just hope developer Arrowhead doesn't get any ideas. "These ba---ards are going to be a special kind of explosive evil," another said.

We don't know when the tanks or flamethrowers will be added, but clearly Arrowhead is working hard to make the Second Galactic War ten times as painful as the last.
