  • Floating Watcher: Powerful Demon build option, quickly gains stats with support from other demons, and appears at a lower Tavern Tier.

If you see one in the Tavern or triple into it, you’ll be tempted to drop everything and switch to an entirely new strategy. Here are ten minions that can (and often do) easily warp the Battlegrounds around themselves.

Certain Tier 7 minions would make this list, but they appear so rarely that they have been excluded from this list.

11 Kalecgos, Arcane Aspect

He's Much More Personable Than His Predecessor, Malygos

A massive boost to Kalecgos, Arcane Aspect came when its effect was changed to activate whenever you triggered a Battlecry, rather than just playing one. As a result, any extra triggers you get from a minion like Brann Bronzebeard will also buff your board.

It can be somewhat difficult to get a Kalecgos build started, since many of the pieces you need are at extremely high Tavern Tiers. However, if you can get your hands on Kalecgos early enough, few builds will be able to contest you when it comes to raw stat totals.

10 Bream Counter

I Wonder Why He's Counting Them

Murloc builds have a lot of interlocking synergies, and it takes many different pieces to make them work. But at the center of most successful versions is Bream Counter, whose ability allows it to gain stats remarkably quickly.

That makes it one of the best options to get summoned by Bassgill and Diremuck Forager, and massively buffs Choral Mrrrglr, which takes stats from minions in your hand. There are a lot of great Murlocs, but Bream Counter is the engine that powers them.

9 Floating Watcher

He's ALWAYS Watching

There are quite a few ways to make Demon builds work, but one of the best of them relies on the stat-gaining powerhouse that is Floating Watcher. With support from Wrath Weaver and Malchezaar, Prince of Dance, you can damage yourself and buff the Watcher extremely quickly.

It also helps that Floating Watcher appears at a much lower Tavern Tier than the other minions on this list. As a result, you don’t need to level aggressively to find it and can start scaling much faster.

8 Moon-Bacon Jazzer and Prickly Piper

A Perfect Duo Act

Moon-Bacon Jazzer and Prickly Piper are the primary ways to buff the stats given by your Blood gems, which makes them crucial to Quilbaor strategies. There are a lot of ways to get Blood Gems and take advantage of them, but there’s only so good they can be if they only give 1/1 in stats.

The Piper is the more consistent option since it can provide buffs over multiple turns, but Moon-Bacon Jazzer arguably has higher potential. When combined with Rylak Metalhead, which allows you to trigger your Battlecries again in combat, you can end up with minions that have Health totals in the thousands.

7 Banana Slamma

He Sure Does Love Slamming Those Bananas

6

Despite being moved from Tier 4 to Tier 5, Banana Slamma remains a potentially oppressive force. Some of the minions that summon decently sized Beasts, like Octosari and Wrap God, will get massive boosts from the Slamma’s ability.

But even smaller options can grow to a massive size once you boost them with Goldrinn, the Great Wolf, Mama Bear, or even Humming Bird, giving more stats for Banana Slamma to double. You can’t find it on Tier 4 and immediately start obliterating the lobby anymore but don’t sleep on this minion.

5 Motley Phalanx

A Human, A Mechagnome, And A Murloc Walk Into A Bar...

Despite multiple rounds of nerfs, Motley Phalanx remains one of the best build-around options in the Battlegrounds. Even on its own, the stats it can provide will be enough to win fights if you get it early enough.

That said, the Phalanx does require a good deal of support if you want to maximize its potential. Fortunately, there are quite a few ways to get there; whether it’s getting extra Deathrattle triggers with Hawkstrider Herald or Titus Rivendare, or Archlich Kel’Thuzad killing and re-summoning Motley Phalanx over and over again to buff your board permanently.

4 Nalaa The Redeemer

Nalaa Is Actually A Hearthstone Monster Hunt Original

Unless you are already locked into a specific build when you find Nalaa the Redeemer, there’s a good chance you’ll have multiple types on the board. As a result, you will often already have minions in play for her effect to trigger.

Additionally, Tavern spells are in plentiful supply, both in the Tavern itself and with minions like Trembling Trolley and Ignition Specialist capable of generating them. Once you find Nalaa, putting together a build capable of dominating the game won’t take much effort.

3 Fleet Admiral Tethys

Fleet Admiral Is The Highest Rank In The US Navy

Fleet Admiral Tethys can create a Pirate build all by himself. Once he’s in play, you can start generating the rest of your board just by spending gold.

Many Pirates are gold-generators themselves, and they also have a lot of interlocking synergies, so the cards Tethys gives you will often provide some value to your board along with providing gold when sold. On top of that, if you can find multiple copies of Tethys, you’ll end up with more gold than you can spend.

2 Slitherspear, Lord Of Gains

He's Always Hogging The Dumbbells

If you want to play Naga, Slitherspear, Lord Of Gains is the minion you are looking for. It does require some support to get going, but there will always be Tavern spells available in the Tavern and from your Naga's Spellcraft abilities.

The only problem you can run into is that Slitherspear does not buff himself, so you’ll either need two of him on the board or use the spells on him to make sure you don’t have what is essentially dead weight on your board.
