Driftwood is one of the late-game crafting materials that you will have to acquire to unlock incantations requiring this item. This item may not seem important as soon as you get it, but its supply will be desired the most when you unlock most of the late-game incantations. This guide explains how to get Driftwood and where to use this item.

How To Get Driftwood

Driftwood is one of the few crafting materials that can only be found on the surface. You go to the surface by taking the path going north after the stairs in the training room. The south side leads to the Underworld.

However, if you are in early or mid-game, you may first need to break the surface ward, by concocting the Permeation of Witching-Wards incantation. This incantation requires you to have the following items:

• One Cinder
• One Shadow
• Three Moly

Once you have broken the ward, you must reach the second biome called the Rift of Thessaly, after crossing the first one: Ephyra. This takes place on a ship, and it is where you will find the Driftwood.

Collecting Driftwood

Driftwood is not a guaranteed spawn in every run and it is a random event. Therefore, you will need to do many runs to gather a decent amount of this crafting material in the game.

The item can spawn during encounters or even in the Charhydbis's boss room. As seen in the video above, we found our first Driftwood item in the boss area.

Similar to Lotus and Molly, you can collect a Driftwood item without specialized tools.

Where To Use Driftwood

Driftwood can be used to concoct late-game incantations such as Sandy Lifespring and Rite of River-Fording.

The former incantation unlocks a healing spot in the Rift of Thessaly biome where Melinoe can replenish her lost health, and the latter unlocks a fishing pier in Crossroads.
