Grand Theft Auto 6 fever has swept the globe, with many having already locked in their pre-orders, and even more closely analyzing new screenshots and artwork that Rockstar has released for the game's Ultimate Edition. Just like before, these screenshots are teeming with that classic Rockstar attention to detail, though not everyone is as pleased as you'd expect.

Over the past 24 hours, more and more GTA 6 fans have been looking closely at these new screenshots and have been comparing them to the last time we saw the game in action, that being the release of the game's second trailer. One image in particular, which shows off Jason's safehouse, is grabbing a lot of attention, as some are claiming that a potential "graphics downgrade" may have occurred.

Yep, We're Doing This Again

First reported by Kotaku, a bunch of social media posts have blown up ever since these new screenshots were released, claiming that Jason's safehouse is proof that the graphics of GTA 6 look worse than they did in 2025. The exterior of Jason's safehouse is one apparent smoking gun, as is the foliage next to Jason's dirt bike parked outside the house.

While there are obviously differences in appearance, some are arguing that it's clearly because the time of day in both screenshots is different, and possibly the weather too.

There are also people claiming that there has been "a slight downgrade in the textures", posting images of Jason's hair in the trailer and these new screenshots as proof that his hair has been impacted the most by the downgrade. They also claim that reflections don't look as good as they did too, and they "don't seem like the same ones from the trailers."

Personally, I think both sides have some merit. GTA 6 will likely launch and look incredible, and we'll look back on these conversations with the same amount of spitefulness that we did when Spider-Man fans were up in arms over puddlegate, but there is a noticeable difference in graphics in my eyes as well.

However, that was to be expected. The last time we saw Jason's safehouse was in a full-blown trailer for GTA 6, something that Rockstar will have wanted to look as good as possible. Compare that to a random in-game screenshot showing off a couple of cars and there was always going to be a difference in quality.

That being said, I think if this is a genuine concern for you, then take a step back and remember that this is a Rockstar game. It's a studio that demands perfection, launching the biggest game in its entire history. It's going to look amazing upon release. Of that, there is zero doubt, and while it's healthy to be skeptical of marketing material, especially after the likes of Cyberpunk 2077, this one ain't it chief.
