Vaults are back in Fortnite Chapter 7, Season 3, and if you find a key or keycard, the loot can be all yours. This season, there are two types of vaults, smaller ones opened with keys and large Sprite Vaults that can only be opened using legendary vault keycards.

Another fun (and often frustrating) aspect of this season's vaults, is that they aren't located right next to the key locations, so you could end up traveling across the map to get to the nearest vault.

All Vault Locations In Fortnite

Vaults can be found in these specific locations:

  • Beneath the Mile High Retreat Supply Depot, southeast of Lifty Lodge
  • Southeast of The Battlewoods
  • Southwest of Wonkeeland
  • Southeast of Shaken Sanctuary
  • The gas station northeast of Sunken Shores
  • Beneath the Shady Eyes building to the east of Heatwave Harbor
  • To the east of Frosted Flats (Sprite Vault)
  • Beneath The Shape at Sinister Strip (Sprite Vault)

Both keys and keycards spawn randomly in chests and rarely but occasionally as floor loot, with a higher likelihood of finding a keycard in a rare chest. When you find a rare key, you will be briefly shown the location of the nearest small vault. This could be just around the corner, or it could be across the map and in the storm, depending on whether luck is on your side.

A few times, we have opened a chest inside a vault to find a Sprite Vault keycard or another rare key!

It is often worth traveling a distance to get into the vault, particularly if you haven't managed to find decent loot yet. The small vaults contain a rare chest, Slurp barrels, and a Sprite Chest.

The large vaults are opened with a keycard, a legendary item that shows you the location of the nearest Sprite Vault. Inside these Sprite Vaults are Sprite Chests, each with a good chance of giving you a legendary Sprite, rare chests full of high-rarity loot, regular chests and Slurp barrels.
