How To Unlock 'New Game Plus' In FF7 Rebirth

We've put quotations around the term for a reason - New Game Plus isn't listed as such in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. But that doesn't mean you can't mimic the process.

To begin with, and this might seem like common sense, you must complete FF7 Rebirth's story. With that out of the way, the game will do the same thing that Square Enix had Remake do: you'll be asked whether you'd like to create a post-story save file.

Say yes, of course. Now, let's say you want to get a move on with New Game Plus. From the main menu, boot up the new file rather than choose to begin a new game entirely. You'll be given access to a chapter select feature, and you'll want to pick Chapter 1 for an NGP-like.

If you select Chapter 12, you can also decide who Cloud will go on a date with at the Gold Saucer. There's one caveat - you can't pick someone with whom you hadn't established a fair amount of affinity - but it's still quite handy.

What Carries Over In FF7 Rebirth's New Game Plus?

Quite a few things, actually. Which is great, since the max level in Rebirth is 70, and you might not get that far during your first traipse through the game.

• Your levels are retained.
• Your gil, which is to say, your cash, also sticks around.
• Your weapons, armor, accessories, and materia will also come along for the ride.
• All unlocked skill nodes on the folio boards are yours to keep.
• Weapon upgrade levels are permanent fixtures of your New Game Plus journey.
• Affinity ratings between Cloud and the other characters are also maintained.
• It's your choice whether to keep the side quests you experienced listed as complete or reset them so that you can do them again.

What Unlocks With New Game Plus?

We've already mentioned the nifty Gold Saucer date trick, but you can also play the game in Hard Mode. This mirrors Remake's version: items are unavailable during fights.

Everything's tougher, of course, but quite a few new folio manuscripts will be added. As a result, you can master the folio boards.
