Iconic of farming sims, Fae Farm offers a variety of skills that you can work on, level up, and generally improve throughout your time in the game. With ten skills on offer and two perks related to each, you’ve got your work cut out for you with skill-building in Fae Farm.

Each level you increase a skill offers additional perks that make leveling the skill further, collecting resources, or physically working on skills that much easier. It’ll take you a while to master every skill in Fae Farm, with such a wide variety, but this guide will help you out.
Fae Farm Skills And Perks, Explained
Throughout your time in Azoria, you'll be working on ten total skills as you go about your daily tasks.
The majority of your skills are easy enough to work on as you go about life in Fae Farm, covering things like farming your crops, mining in the game's assorted dungeons, catching critters as you run through Azoria, and more.
There are 20 total levels for each skill, and for each level you increase past the first, you'll receive a skill perk for leveling up.
Naturally, each level requires a higher number of XP to level up, meaning you'll have your work cut out for you later in the game.
Each skill primarily has two perks, and they tend to alternate between levels. One will be associated with the odd skill numbers, while the other will primarily occur with even skill numbers.
The exception to this is the final level, Level 20, in each skill. Here, you'll receive plus-one to both perks associated with the skill, to help prove your mastery.
Mining
Though you'll need to get through quite a lot of introduction to unlock your first real dungeon, you'll begin Mining as you break rocks around your farm to clear it out on arrival.
From here, you'll partner up with Cleo to begin diving into the dungeons in Fae Farm, beginning with Saltwater Mines right in Azoria.
Here, you'll find multiple different kinds of rocks and gemstones, all of which you can break to earn Mining XP. You'll walk away with all sorts of ores, gems, rocks, and more based on the kinds of rocks you're breaking.
The perks of the Mining Skill are:
- Mining Power, which requires fewer hits to break ore nodes and gemstones.
- Mining Efficiency, which may grant additional drops from ore nodes and gemstones.

You'll come up against progressively tougher rocks the further you play into the game, so be sure to keep abreast of your pickax upgrades.

Farming
One of the most central tenets of this farming sim is naturally the Farming skill, which you'll build by planting crops at the Homestead and tending to them throughout the season.
You'll earn XP the entire way through the growing process: planting, watering, fertilizing, and harvesting crops all lend to the Farming skill in Fae Farm.
The perks of the Farming skill are:
- Digging Power, which results in fewer uses of your shovel to excavate a digging spot.
- Digging Efficiency, which may offer additional drops from digging spots.

There's a rotating schedule of crops that grow in Azoria, so keep up with the seasonal produce and enjoy the grind!
Foraging
As you go through Azoria and its neighboring regions, you'll find plenty of seasonal plants littering the ground.
For the most part, these can all be picked or harvested right from the ground, and you'll be rewarded with Foraging XP for each item you pick up.
The items you can forage change with the season, so be sure to stock up before the end of each season!
The Foraging skill perks are:
- Lucky Forager, which will occasionally yield more drops per foraged item you pick.
- Scythe Luck, which will sometimes give more items that require the Scythe for harvest (Sugarcane, grasses, etc.)

The majority of your prepared ingredients have multiple items that produce them throughout the year, so just keep track of your foraged items so you never run out of something.
Animal Care
Sure, the livestock in Fae Farm might not be the typical spread of cows and chickens, but you'll earn XP inAnimal Care for everything related to caring for your animals.
Interacting with them to pet or brush them, feeding them by popping grass or fodder into their trough, and harvesting animal products lend to the Animal Care skill.
The two skill perks for Animal Care are:
- Animal Affinity, which leads to bigger relationship gains with animals per interaction.
- Bountiful Harvest, occasionally resulting in additional drops from your livestock.

There are several different livestock options throughout the course of Fae Farm's story, so be sure to diversify your Homestead for reliable ways to harvest all animal products.

Potion Brewing
Though you won't really get to begin working on this skill until at least Chapter Four when you begin to venture to other realms, you'll find Potion Brewing to be critical in later chapters.
In the earliest days of the game, you rely on Vera in East Town for potions, but Balarandi in the Fae Realm will teach you about making them yourself.
Once you begin brewing, the two skill perks for Potion Brewing are:
- Potion Potency, which increases the effects imbued by your potions.
- Bonus Brew, which has a chance to yield additional potions for each potion you make.

Potion Brewing will save you plenty of time and Florins as you begin dungeon-crawling more intensely in later chapters of the game.
Logging
You'll begin your adventure in Logging as soon as you begin clearing your farm and the surrounding areas of Azoria of their trees.
There are several types of wood available from cutting down trees, with each region in Fae Farm having its own types of wood.
You'll need to be mindful to keep upgrading your axe to contend with tougher wood - early-game tools quite literally won't cut it with the sturdier trees.
The Logging skill perks are:
- Logging Power, which reduces the number of axe strikes required to chop down a tree or cut up a log.
- Logging Efficiency, which occasionally yields extra wood in a singular action.

You can use wood for building, or process it into Lumber for additional projects and uses.
Fishing
Iconic in farming sim games, Fishing is pretty simple in Fae Farm.
We've got an entire guide to Fishing that details the skill more closely, but in general, you earn Fishing XP every time you catch a fish, regardless of where you're fishing.
You can see the fish in the water, which helps direct your line a bit more precisely when you cast off. You'll also occasionally see rare, glowing fish that sell for high prices in the market!
The two Fishing skill perks are:
- Reeling Power, which helps you reel in tougher fish a bit easier.
- Sly Angler seems to increase the range at which fish see your bobber in the water.

Critter Catching
As you wander through Azoria, you'll notice a selection of bugs and critters loitering out and about in the world.
When this happens, grab your trusty Critter Catching net and get to swinging - Critters serve all kinds of purposes, from selling for high prices to using for potion ingredients.
You'll even occasionally see rare Critters fluttering about, denoted by sparkles and a rainbow shine. These are harder to catch than normal Critters, but they pay better when you sell them, and even produce rare resources.
The two Critter Catching skill perks are:
- Catching Efficiency, which requires fewer net swings to catch Critters.
- Lucky Catch, which occasionally nets you a few extra Critters per catch.

Strike a balance between selling and using Critters for resources, and be sure to talk to Mel to upgrade your net as needed!
Cooking
One of the primary ways to earn money on the marketplace or recover Energy throughout the day, there are dozens of Food and Drink options.
There are several cooking stations in Fae Farm, so be sure you're filling your house with each kind to have access to every recipe in Fae Farm. You'll earn XP for making dishes or ingredients with your cookware.
Food often also grants additional effects, like protection from rain or heat, to name a few.
The Cooking skill perks are:
- Gourmand, which improves the effects of your dishes.
- Baker's Dozen, which occasionally prepares an extra serving of a Food or Drink recipe.

Whether consumed or sold, you'll be doing a lot of meal prep in Fae Farm, offering plenty of opportunities to increase your Cooking skill.
Magic
Last but not least, your Magic is tied to your combat prowess as you go through dungeons.
You'll receive your Staff from Alaric during the earliest days of the game, and you'll use it as a weapon from there on out.
As you go through dungeons in the game, you'll find yourself up against several different kinds of enemies. When you engage enemies in combat and win, you'll get not only their loot, but XP as well.
The two Magic skill perks are:
- Critical Chance, which may occasionally deal more damage to enemies.
- Manasteal Chance, which may occasionally steal mana from slain enemies to replenish your farmer's mana levels.
