Catching diseases is easily one of the most annoying disruptions in Oblivion Remastered, as you can be afflicted with any one of dozens of maladies. You'll need more than powerful Restoration spells to rid yourself of these nuisances, so prepare to chug potions and visit the nearest chapel if you're feeling the ill effects.

PostsBeyond curing yourself of these terrible illnesses, it's important to know where certain diseases come from, so that you can avoid contracting them in the first place. If you have to fight a disease carrier, preparation and caution during combat will be essential for maintaining your good health.
How Do Diseases Work?
CloseDiseases are essentially debuffs that are applied to your character that reduce certain attributes or skills, depending on the disease.
Most diseases in Oblivion Remastered are contracted in combat, specifically when an enemy with a given disease hits you with a melee attack.
Diseases have a chance of being contracted each time a diseased enemy hits you.
Every disease can be cured by using a Potion of Cure Disease, which will rid you of the disease immediately.
Alternatively, you can also pray at a Shrine, Temple, or Wayshrine, which will cure you of any diseases and return any of your lowered attributes and skills to normal.
Porphyric Hemophilia, also known as the Vampirism disease, is a unique case that can semi-permanently affect your character if you do not cure it within three days. If you don't cure this disease within the three-day incubation period, you will contract Vampirism the next time you sleep.
Once Vampirism is fully incubated and contracted, it cannot be cured by normal means, and instead, you must follow the Vampire Cure quest to rid yourself of this bane.

While most of the beggars you find around Cyrodiil only carry one disease, you'll want to be particularly careful of both Rancid Ra'dirsha and Foul Fagus, as both of these people carry two diseases.
- Rancid Ra'dirsha – Blood Lung & Witless Pox
- Foul Fagus – Bone Break Fever & Shakes
It's generally a good idea not to get into a fight with or kill any beggars, especially if you plan on joining the Thieves Guild, given how integral their assistance is during various portions of this questline.
You will frequently be required to ask beggars for more information about your current task, and they frequently point you in the direction of good information.
Luckily, there are at least two beggars in every city, just in case something goes wrong.
