Summary

  • Twitch streamer Skum is playing through Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree as an FPS game.
  • They're trickshotting Divine Beasts with snipers and flinging rockets at Messmer with an RPG.
  • It's nauseating watching them roll in first-person, but all the mods are freely available if you want to try it for yourself.

Y'know what Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is missing? Sniper rifles. What's the fun if you can't trickshot Messmer with a 360 no-scope to the tune of Linkin Park's Bleed It Out?

Thankfully, Twitch streamer Skum has us covered. He's running through a modded playthrough that completely transforms Elden Ring into a first-person shooter. On a whim, he leapt off a cliff and shot at the Divine Beast Dancing Lion in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, killing it with a single bullet.

"Oh my god, oh my god, second try bro - that was the real one. That was first try, actually. That was a crazy shot, I can't even lie," Skum said in disbelief. "It was just a joke at first but I actually hit that. That's fu--ing insane."

Things Get Broken Against Messmer

It doesn't always go as smoothly as it did with the Divine Beast, as the first-person mod gets a little broken with more involved attacks.

When Messmer grabbed Skum, they spun around the arena, glitching through their own body. To make up for it, Skum fought tooth and nail with... a rocket launcher. Perfectly in line with George R. R. Martin and Hidetaka Miyazaki's vision, I'm sure.

They also took on Consort Radahn, the toughest boss in not just the DLC, but arguably the entire game, with an AK-47. It's nauseating watching Skum roll in first-person as Radahn charges forward at breakneck speed, so the assault rifle evens things out a little bit.

If you want to do this yourself, the mod is called First Person Souls and there are myriad gun mods, the most popular one coming from lucaskiller2211. It adds everything from an M16 to the Hunter Blunderbuss to an AK-47. That should make Radahn a bit easier.
