5 Collapsing Stars

You would probably think more gravity orbs would be better than one, but Collapsing Stars proves that often isn’t the case. The Sorcery will usually deal more damage than its less visually impressive counterpart, Gravity Well, but there are way better Sorceries for dealing damage if that’s your main goal.

The issue arises when it comes to its ability to pull enemies; the spread on the orbs is wide enough that many of them will miss smaller targets, which is a somewhat fatal flaw because those are the ones you can pull. Suppose you want to test out Collapsing Stars' weaknesses for yourself; in that case, you can pick it up in the War-Dead Catacombs in the northernmost part of Starscourge Radahn’s arena after you beat him.

4 Meteorite

Meteorite is a worse version of a spell that appears later on this list, and if you have the FP to cast the bigger variant, you’ll just do that instead. Still, dropping space rocks on your enemy's head is going to deal a massive amount of damage, even if you'll likely replace this spell eventually.

You can also get Meteorite substantially earlier in the game than its improved variant, so it can function as a useful stopgap if nothing else. It is pretty easy to miss, though; an Onyx Lord trapped in the Royal Grave Evergaol hidden behind Caria Manor drops it.

Most Sorcerers want to keep their enemies as far away from themselves as possible since being whacked in the face with a sword the size of a tree makes spellcasting difficult. There are plenty of potent melee Sorceries, though, and Gravity Well can be great for forcing your enemies into range of them.

It can also be used to hilarious effect by dragging enemies off cliffs, and as a result, it can trivialize enemies if the terrain is in your favor (Miquella’s Haligtree being a notable example). If you want to kill people using the Force, Gravity Well is dropped by a Lesser Alabaster Lord in Raya Lucaria Academy, near the wheel elevator.

2 Rock Sling

Rock Sling is objectively a good spell, and one of a Sorcerer’s few options for dealing physical damage, at least a cost that isn’t outright extortionate, and will break enemy stances fairly quickly. The only real downside to Rock Sling is that the boulders don’t fly in the way you want them to, as they have an unusual curving trajectory that causes them to crash into walls and miss even relatively large enemies entirely if you’re too close to them.

If you can get over that problem, the Sorcery is great, and isn’t hard to get your hands on either; it’s lying on the ground in the Street of Sages Ruins. If you’re feeling brave, you can rush to Caelid and pick it up right at the start of the game.

Was the regular Meteorite not enough for you? Well, if you have the FP for it, Meteorite of Astel is a strict upgrade, as it has a better aim and will launch more meteors than its counterpart. Yes, the FP cost is massive, but by the time you get access to it, you should have high Mind or the Cerulean Crystal Tear, allowing you to cast spells for free for a limited time.

Unfortunately, Meteorite of Astel is by far the hardest Sorcery on this list to obtain by a pretty wide margin. You’ll need to kill Astel, Stars of Darkness in the Yelough Anix Tunnel, which is hidden away in the Consecrated Snowfield.
