Morgott, the Omen King is one of Elden Ring's most challenging bosses, especially in his first appearance as Margit. Now that you've overcome his final roadblock and defeated him in Leyndell, Royal Capital, you have acquired his Great Rune. But, before you can use the power of Morgott's Great Rune, you must first activate it at a Divine Tower.

Posts 1Great Runes provide immense additional strength in a variety of different ways, but they must first be activated at a Divine Tower. Even after activation, the power of the Great Rune will only apply when you use a Rune Arc. Let's take a look at how to get and activate Morgott's Great Rune, and what it does once activated.
Updated July 5, 2024, by Andrew Scariati: We've added more details about activating Morgott's (or Mohg's) Great Rune at the Divine Tower of East Altus. With the Shadow of the Erdtree upon us, now is the time to finish collecting all Great Runes if you haven't already done so. If you want to be efficient, you can save this trip until you have Mohg's Great Rune too.
How To Activate Morgott's Great Rune
Morgott's Great Rune can be activated at the Divine Tower of East Altus.
This tower is located near Leyndell, Royal Capital, but can only be found by following a specific path.
To activate Morgott's Great Rune, ascend the tower and interact with the dead Two Fingers at its peak.
How To Find The Divine Tower of East Altus
The Divine Tower of East Altus can be found by following a path from Leyndell, Royal Capital. Starting from the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace, head northeast along the main road towards the closed gate.
The Divine Tower of East Altus is the only tower where you can activate two Great Runes, as Mohg's Great Rune can also be activated at the top.
Push open this gate, then continue along the path past the Misbegotten enemies, killing or evading them.
At the end of the path, turn to the left to find a lift. Activate the lever here to send yourself up the tower. At the top, continue straight and kill or evade the Leyndell soldiers.
Keep heading straight across the bridge and deal with the Leyndell Soldier on a horse. After this, it's a straight shot forward to the next lift.
If you want, take the lift down to reach the Forbidden Lands Site of Grace, which will provide a close checkpoint for the upcoming encounter.
Whether you activated the Forbidden lands Site of Grace or not, take the southeast exit from the top of the tower lift.
After taking a few steps across the bridge, the world will go black, and the Fell Twins will appear.
This challenging duo boss fight must be defeatedto continue.
One attacks with an axe while the other comes at you with a large cleaver. The axe-wielder attacks you first, so try to defeat it quickly before moving on to the other twin.
After the Fell Twins are down, continue southeast along the bridge until you reach the Divine Tower of East Altus.
Ride the lift to the top, and activate Morgott's Great Rune at the base of the dead Two Fingers.
What Does Morgott's Great Rune Do?
The effect of Morgott's Great Rune is pretty simple; it will increase your maximum HP.
When activated, Morgott's Great Rune increases your HP by 25 percent, after applying other HP-increasing effects like those from buffs, equipment, and spells.
Is Morgott's Great Rune Good?
While not the most interesting, Morgott's Great Rune will provide a large chunk of additional HP that will allow you to survive bosses later in the game.
Just be sure to use a Rune Arc to gain the effects of the Great Rune.
Only Mohg and Rykard's Great Runes can be considered less useful since their effects are more situational and less crucial to more builds than HP.
While it's an average Great Rune when compared to the other options, Morgott's Great Rune has an effect that will possibly save your life.
Depending on the rest of your build, using Morgott's Great Rune can either save you a Talisman slot or some attribute investment in Vigor, which you can apply to your damage instead.
The only major downside is that you must keep activating Rune Arcs to benefit from the effect.
When considered from that angle, Morgott's Great Rune is worth the effort if you struggle to dodge hits – the HP to take an extra one will prove invaluable.
