My Hero Academia CCG: Beginner's Guide

The My Hero Academia CCG is an epic card game where you can relive the battles for the anime in this one-versus-one style card game.

Of course, with every new release of a ccg, certain cards are quick to be priced above the rest. So, when tearing open packages and sorting through over 150 new cards, what finds should collectors be the most excited about? Let’s get into it.

These prices all come from TCGplayer’s Market Value and are subject to change.

10 Hawks’ Feather - Extra Rare - $35.19

A Hawks deck essential

It's no surprise to see a card that’s important for playing one of the new characters pop up on this list. Brand new to Jet Burn, this card can be used in conjunction with other cards such as Feather Storm, Feather Rush, and Feather Sword Slash.

Basically, in order to fully utilize the character of Hawks, and to make maximum use of the strategies his new attack cards present, it would be useful to have a number of these on hand. With that in mind, it's easy to see why this card is currently in demand.

9 Fierce Wings - Extra Secret Rare - $51.50

What's better than one Hawks card?

The only action card on our list, this one features artwork of Hawks, whose introduction is going to make all of his cards more sought after. It allows you to recover a card with a difficulty of three or less from your discard pile. As a Response, it also allows you to build a non-unique foundation from your discard pile after one of yours is destroyed or committed.

My Hero Academia CCG: The 10 Best Cards From The Original Set

The My Hero Academia CCG is getting a lot of traction, and some cards from the base set are still pretty viable in competitive play today.

In other words, this is a card that allows for some recovery during the course of a game, which can be useful for a number of strategies, leading to it being sought after.

8 Tasty Riff - Extra Rare - $58.41

A useful boost

Featuring Fumikage Tokoyami playing guitar, this attack card is one of several with a music theme in this set. Others include Denki Kamari also playing the guitar, Katsuki Bakugo on drums, and Kyoka Jiro standing on stage.

This particular music-themed card can be used as a part of Jiro’s 'Applause Counter' strategy, where, upon earning 25 applause counters, she wins the game. This new strategy is part of what makes this card valuable, as players look to use it. The card also includes a Deadlock Powerful ability, which provides a nice boost to the value.

7 Deception Dagger - Extra Secret Rare - $64.50

Toga's rapid-fire attacks

Following in the footsteps of the game’s original rivalry (Bakugo and Midoriya) this booster pack features two brand-new Clash Decks. Designed to be ready-to-play, these new decks feature rivals Himiko Toga and Ochaco Uraraka. This incentivizes collectors to focus on those two characters.

This is one of the new attack cards designed featuring Toga, and it allows you to remove a card from a rival's discard pile and then use that card’s block modifier as a speed boost. This card is also an Extra Secret Rare, which makes it more valuable than other versions of the same design.

6 Falling Skies - Secret Rare - $61.68

Uraraka introduces a versatile new card

On the other side of the rivalry, we find Ochaco Uraraka, who gained her own set of cards. Among those featuring the character’s art is Falling Skies, and Uraraka's intense pose is definitely part of the draw. It also has a versatile use in the form of a Momentum boost and a speed and damage boost, depending on how it’s used.

With only a moderate Difficulty of four, the cost of use isn’t too high, and with the signs air, earth, and water, this cool card can fit into any number of pre-existing decks, raising the demand.

5 Falling Skies - Extra Secret Rare - $85.99

No, it's not the same card

There’s a small difference between the Secret Rare tier and the Extra Secret Rare tier, which is what sets these two cards apart. Although they’ll play the same during the game, the difference lies in the number found at the bottom right of the card.

There, you can see how many cards are supposed to be printed of this type (for example, 153/153). When looking at Extra Secret Rare cards, you'll see how the number of the card exceeds that (for example, 157/153). In this case, that’s the difference that increases the price by almost twenty dollars.

4 Katsuki Bakugo 4 - Chrome Rare - $480

UA's future number one at number five

For long-time players of this game, it’s no surprise to see a Chrome Rare card near the top of this list. Introduced as the rarest tier in the third set of cards, Heroes Clash, Chrome Rare cards feature alternative artwork of the character with metallic details. This limited edition artwork features Bakugo in his full hero outfit, confident smile and all.

Katsuki Bakugo, especially with his Response adding +3 damage to Fury attacks after they receive a damage penalty, is known for an aggressive play style that works to inflict maximum damage on the offensive. If you play your cards right, he can end games quickly.

3 Endeavor 3 - Chrome Rare - $650

A fiery upgrade to a fan favorite

There are only ever 100 of each Chrome Rare printed, so the cards have built-in scarcity that drives the prices up. For this card, the art captures everything fans of Endeavor love about him: his raw intensity and ability to power through challenges with brute force.

For those who enjoyed past Endeavor cards, this is the jewel of the collection. Only a handful of these cards have been drawn since their release in November 2023, so the price remains high.

2 Dabi 3 - Chrome Rare - $2,000

Always a step ahead of Endeavor

A breakout favorite from the League of Villains, Dabi is featured on this card with his signature smirk and glossy blue flames. This card marks his first appearance, alongside his hero father, in Chrome Rare.

Dabi is a good starting place for anyone looking to play an Evil deck, especially using Shigaraki as support. Well, the normal version of it might be. For those lucky enough to snag a Chrome Rare, it might be better used as a showpiece than actually played for this price point. Though the marketplace value remains high, there has been one sale listed at 1,300, which places it just below our most expensive card.

1 Izuku Midoriya 5 - Chrome Rare - $2,000

Plus Ultra cost!

As the protagonist of the series, Midoriya is an obvious choice for another Chrome Rare. The unique artwork features him in mid-attack, the metallic flare adding dimension that the base version doesn't have. Since a Chrome Rare featuring him was sold at this price point, other listings have remained this high even as more are pulled.

However, if enough of these cards are found and enter the market, they probably won’t stay this expensive. But who knows! Based on the other Chrome Rares that have come before it, collectors tend to hold on to these once they're bought, making buying them even more pressing for those who want them.
