Echocalypse tells a dark, yet hopeful tale of two siblings—unwillingly separated in a post-apocalyptic world besieged by calamities, civil unrest, and rogue gods. Like most gacha games, it offers a narrative-heavy experience and multiple game modes that you can really sink your teeth into.

Reverse: 1999 - Beginner Tips

Reverse: 1999 can be quite an overwhelming game if you're new to the Gacha genre, and here's everything you have to keep in mind.

Posts

It also features a vast selection of unique characters you can collect, captivating side stories, and mostly automated, yet still engaging turn-based combat. But first, if you want to experience everything Echocalypse has to offer with little to no roadblocks to your progress, there are several important things you need to keep in mind as a beginner.

Reroll For Better SSR Units

Rerolling for top-tier units (i.e. Cases) in Echocalypse isn’t necessary. Still, it does ensure that you won’t have much trouble getting through the midgame and endgame content instead of leaving it up to your luck in the gacha later down the line.

If you don’t have any issues spending around 15 to 30 minutes per reroll session before starting the game, then we highly recommend the following top-tier units as reroll targets:

  • Audrey (SSR)
  • Vivi (SSR)
  • Kiki (SSR)
  • Nephthys (SSR)
  • Aiken (SSR)
  • Levia (SSR)

Getting at least one of these units will give you a very solid foundation in the early game—one that you can then build on as you continue to get more SSR units from time-limited events, giveaways, and gacha draws.

We have a full guide on how to reroll in Echoalypse here.

Prioritize Clearing Expedition Stages

As soon as you start the game (or once you’re done rerolling), you’ll want to focus on the Expedition first, which is Echocalypse’s story mode.

By playing Expedition, you’ll be able to follow the game's main storyline, as well as collect precious resources that you'll need to progress your account, such as:

  • Tribute Points
  • S Elementiums
  • Iridimorphites
  • Augment Protocols
  • Augmentation Materials
  • Mission Data

Clearing Expedition stages also increases your account level and unlocks other game modes and features that Echocalypse has to offer.

Ideally, you should complete Chapter Sevenof the ExpeditionASAP, as doing so will allow you to claim your free SSR unit from the Selected 10x Draw. At that point, you’ll be able to create a solid team consisting of at least three SSR units that'll help you tackle other game modes.

Add Lots Of Friends

Adding friends is essential in this game simply because you can receive free Action Points every day from your friends. Aim to add at least 20 friends ASAP, as this will allow you to claim up to 100 Action Points per daily reset.

The easiest way to make friends in Echocalypse is to choose the 'Add' option on your Friends page and click 'Add All'.

This will send friend requests to random players around your level, which should net you several friends within just a day.

However, make sure that the friends you’ve added continue to stay active while you play, as most beginner accounts tend to go inactive during their first few days. Inactive friends can’t send you Action Points, so always replace them with active ones.

Optimize Your Team’s Positioning

Echocalypse’s combat system is predominantly automated, but it doesn't mean there’s no strategy behind it. For example, shown in the image above is the fixed turn order of your units according to their position on the Deploy page.

As you can see, your frontline units go first, followed by your backline units. Use this information as a reference to optimize the order in which your units attack and use their skills, in addition to managing their susceptibility to enemy attacks.

As a general rule, you want the tanky units in the front—preferably ones that can cast buffs and debuffs, then DPS units and Healers in the back, to make sure they don’t attack without any buffs, heal prematurely, or get annihilated by non-backline targeting attacks.

Consider Link Or Leader Buffs When Building A Team

Leader Buffs are activated when two or more units in the same faction are deployed in a team. Here are all the Leader Buffs you can get by making a team where some or most units are in the same faction:

Required Number Of Units In The Same Faction

Leader Buff Applied

2

All units ATK +90

3

All units HP +3,300

Armor Percentage +5%

4

All units DEF +130

ATK +5%

5

All units HP +6,700

Resistance Percentage +5%

Link Buffs, however, are applied to a single unit whendeployed with another unit they have a relationship with, lore-wise. Link Buff effects vary from character to character, but the maximum number of Link Buffs a unit has depends on their rarity:

Unit Rarities

Max Number Of Link Buffs

R

2

SR

3

SSR

4

Leader Buffs and Link Buffs aren’t exactly must-haves if you just want to build a good starting team, but they’ll become increasingly important for min-maxing as you get closer to the late game.

Your six main party members can still get Link Buffs from units deployed in your backup slots, so choose your backup units wisely.

Here are some tips to get you started in Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat.

Don’t Spread Your Unit Upgrade Materials Too Thin

Most resources in Echocalypse can be farmed pretty easily, even in the early game, but you still have to be careful not to overspend some of them, especially materials that increase your units’ power.

For example, instead of spendingAugment Protocols on multiple, less essential characters, it may be wise to invest most of them in one DPSunit first—perhaps two at most in the early game, depending on how well they synergize.

Unit levels and Augmentation tiers are transferable in Echocalypse. With this in mind, get all six units in your formation to at least Augmentation Tier Two before focusing on your DPS unit/s.

This will unlock all party members’ passive skillsandincrease some of their stats significantly, allowing them to survive longer and deal more damage in battle.

Spend Your S Elementiums And Iridimorphites Wisely

S Elementiumsare used exclusively forobtaining units from the gacha, while Iridimorphites are the game’s main currency and can be used to buy a variety of items from the Shop—including S Elementiums.

S Elementiums and Iridimorphites are two of the rarest resources in the game, so as a beginner, you’d be wise to spend them very carefully, especially if you’re a F2P player.

The best way to spend these rare items at the start of the game is to invest most of what you get early on in the character gacha banners (i.e. Case Draw). Also, feel free to purchase some Action Points with Iridimorphites occasionally if you want to farm more items per day.

All Case Draw banners share the Draw Weight system, which is a pity system that increases the odds of you getting an SSR unit every time you draw without getting an SSR unit—capping out at 50 draws where you’ll finally be guaranteed an SSR unit. The draw count resets every time you get an SSR unit.

Claim Your Free Action Points Twice A Day

Action Points can be considered as 'stamina' in Echocalypse. They are consumed whenever you play a variety of game modes, such as the Expedition,Event Expedition, and Regression.

Without Action Points, your choice of playable game modes will be limited. They’re very important, especially for new players who need constant access to all three game modes mentioned above for farming unit upgrade materials.

This is why you should always claim yourDaily Supplies, which will give you two batches of 100 Action Points per day. They’re available only for up to six hours daily and their scheduled appearance is determined by your current location or server's time zone.

Finish Your Combat Missions Daily

Your Combat Missions are one of the very few consistent sources of Iridimorphites. Here are all the dailyrewards you can get by completing your Combat Missions and achieving activity milestones:

  • x6 Nutrient Solutions (Milestone Rewards)
  • x100 Iridimorphites (Milestone Rewards)
  • x55,000 Tribute Points (Milestone Rewards)
  • x45,000 Tribute Points
  • x20 Decoration Points
  • x15 Mission Data II
  • x30 Draw Points
  • x10 Modification Protocol
  • x20 Augment Protocol
  • x100 Artifact Matrix

As a beginner, you can also use the Combat Missions as a rough guidelineon which tasks to prioritize daily.

Establishing a daily routine based on clearing all Combat Missions or at least clearing enough so you can claim all milestone rewards is agood first step for new players.

Check Out Events And Code Giveaways For Free Stuff

If you find yourself lacking some resources early on, it’s always a good idea to take a look at ongoing events and see what rewards you can claim.

Being a gacha game, Echocalypse has no shortage of planned seasonal or promotional events, which translates to a lot of free stuff that you can collect even as a beginner.

The same goes with redeeming codes, which you can do anytime just by going to your Basic Info page and clicking the 'Redeem Code' option. Here, you can redeem codes that you’ll mostly find on Echocalypse’s official social media pagesin exchange for various rewards.
