PSA: Mortal Kombat 1 Still Has Towers Of Time, Sort Of

Mortal Kombat 1's Towers tab doesn't work the same way as past games. You'll see numbered towers that lead to story endings for each character, but none of the everchanging timed ones. Those are now found inside the Invasions mode.
For context, MK11 had a rotating pool of daily, weekly, and hourly towers to earn cosmetics and consumables (sorry, konsumables). These could be viewed in the Towers tab in a void where you could cycle through them. Mortal Kombat 1 has a similar mode, but it's accessed via the Gateway Portal in Invasions. And instead of having them all laid out in front of you, you have to walk to them across a board.

You can find spots that take you to the hourly, daily, and weekly sections, navigating much as you would in typical Invasions gameplay. And since it's tied to Invasions, you also get XP for the mode, and your character level impacts how strong you are. Konsumables are also shared, so you can bring your armour and damage boosts to make things a little easier, or earn them in the towers for elsewhere.
Since Invasions is a seasonal mode, this month being tied to another timeline's Scorpion, there is also a larger seasonal tower alongside the hourly, daily, and weekly ones. It has a mix of Test Your Might, Survive, Encounter, and usual fights. And while it's longer, dying won't send you right back to the start.
It's a little more faff than MK11 since you can't just quickly flip through towers, instead having to walk around to find them, but the mode still exists. Once you've beaten Invasions, you might find it's a little less interesting exploring a giant board game you've already charted, and the structured story towers will grow repetitive after so many playthroughs. That's where the Gateway Portal comes in, and you can access it at any point via the Invasions map, sitting neatly in the middle.
It's handy for grinding XP and learning kombos, but like Towers of Time, these fights are chock full of modifiers. You'll face opponents as fireballs fly across the screen, as the zone flashes between pitch-black darkness and clarity, and of course, while they're buffed with lighting and armour and all other gimmicky add-ons.
