Dragon's Dogma 2 Has Stopped Selling Most Of Its Hated Microtransactions And Received A Permanent Digital Discount
More than two years after launch, Dragon's Dogma 2 is discontinuing the sale of many of its controversial microtransactions, as well as giving the digital version of the base game a permanent discount.
Back when it launched in early 2024, Dragon's Dogma 2 was praised as being a bold game that wasn't afraid to take risks, which anyone who let Dragonsplague ruin their world will no doubt agree with. You really had to figure things out for yourself in Dragon's Dogma 2, and it was one of the best things about it, as long as you didn't mind having to react to and deal with the world.
Of course, that approach was somewhat undermined by the fact that Capcom shoved a bunch of microtransactions into the game that let players skip some of its purposeful design choices by paying a little extra. Players really hated it and made that known, and it seems that Capcom is finally listening after all that time.

The Digital Deluxe Edition Is Also Going, But The Base Game Is Getting A Permanent Discount
As pointed out by Twitter user Okami13_ in news that likely got overshadowed by Dark Arisen's recent announcement, the official Dragon's Dogma 2 account recently shared an update on the game's digital sales. The statement says that, due to the development of "additional content" and changes that are being made in updates, Capcom is removing several DLC items from the game's store on June 24.

Both Dragon's Dogma 2 and Crimson Desert are absolutely one-of-a-kind.
Posts By Jade KingThe DLC items that are being removed include the Wakestone that restores dead characters to life, Rift Crystals, character editor, warp location marker, pawn inclination changer, and much more. Basically, most of the things that let you bypass Dragon Dogma 2's progression aren't going to be sold anymore.
We know that one of the game's upcoming title updates is adding things like an Eternal Ferrystone and more Portcrystals, so Capcom is clearly making some changes to make DD2 a bit easier.
That's not all that's happening to Dragon's Dogma 2, though, as the statement confirms that the digital version of the base game is going to receive a permanent discount, likely because the Digital Deluxe edition is being discontinued as well. Of course, the Dark Arisen DLC is incoming and likely to cost a decent chunk, so this discount does make sense with that in mind.
