Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3's latest gameplay demo has confirmed that transformations like Super Saiyan have noticeably short time limits, and fans overwhelmingly hate them and are already begging for a change.

The past few weeks have given Dragon Ball Xenoverse fans plenty to think about, from Xenoverse 2's game-ending final DLC to an onslaught of new information about the upcoming third game. Bandai Namco even surprised us all by dropping a gameplay demo for Xenoverse 3 that showed off some extended footage from previews that dropped after Summer Game Fest.

While a lot of Xenoverse 3's gameplay demo shows promise and confirms it's pushing the series' formula even further than before, it's fair to say that the hype has been drowned in a sea of complaints focusing on a single important feature. That feature is transformations, which have been massively changed thanks to a time limit that fans are begging to be removed.

You Can Only Go Super Saiyan For A Minute In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3

Fans Are Hoping That Mastery Might Increase The Limit, But That's Definitely Not Confirmed Yet

In the gameplay demo for Xenoverse 3, we get to see a closer look at John Dragon Ball's Super Saiyan transformation, which has a unique animation and even changes the Saiyan's hair for the first time. As cool as that is, though, fans aren't exactly happy about it, as transforming now has a very noticeable and short time limit.

Not only does turning into a Super Saiyan (and seemingly every form) require a meter to be filled up over time, but it also has its own limit, with Super Saiyan 1 only lasting a minute. Super Saiyan 3, which was shown off in off-screen footage of a recent demo, has an even shorter limit attached to it, with many players struggling to even get the form working.

I pointed out this time limit in my preview for Xenoverse 3, and predicted that it'd be a big no-no for a lot of fans. While I can see what the devs are going for with making it a proper power-up, it's clearly not going down well.

Transformations were previously pretty limited in the first Xenoverse and had to be kept up constantly with ki, but Xenoverse 2 made them much easier to access. Now, fans are worried that powering up is going to be a very limited thing, with Redditor Zestyclose-Spring602 suggesting that Dimps has "ruined" the mechanic by trying to reinvent it too much.

Since the gameplay demo released, this time limit is pretty much all Xenoverse fans can talk about, with some making it the focus of memes, and others just angrily calling it out. There's some hope that the mechanic might be changed with the clear backlash that it's received, but for now it looks like we're just going to have to get used to the idea of Super Saiyan being a temporary ability.
