October is nearly here, and that means that Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is inching closer and closer to its official release date. Of course, fans have been waiting what feels like eons for a new game in the beloved Budokai Tenkaichi series, but with every trailer and info dump comes a revived sense of anticipation. Tuesday's "Saiyan & Namek Saga" trailer did exactly that, but not in the way you might think.

Sparking Zero was already my most anticipated game of 2024...
PostsThe trailer, which you can check out below, revealed even more fighters for the upcoming anime video game, including the likes of Frieza and his multiple forms, as well as the ever dangerous Saibaman. And, in case you're wondering, the Saibaman was shown self-destructing on Yamcha as is Dragon Ball tradition.
However, the reveal that has everyone pumped is for none other than Captain Ginyu. It has nothing to do with his flashy poses or purple skin, but rather his unique ability to copy other characters.
Captain Ginyu Could Be A Walking Demo At Launch
Longtime Dragon Ball fans will recall that Ginyu has a special ability called Body Change, which allows him to swap bodies with another being. He most famously swapped bodies with Goku during the Namek Saga before eventually getting bested and turning into a frog.
That said, the trailer showcases Ginyu using his signature ability, and eagle-eyed fans are hoping that it means that he can swap bodies with any character, and not just Goku. In theory, that would mean that Ginyu could swap bodies with a future DLC character, of which Sparking! Zero is confirmed to have from Super Hero and Daima. That would make him a walking beta tester for players, much like how Mystique behaves in Fortnite.
Of course, there's also a reality where Ginyu cannot swap with just any character. That's because the history of Ginyu's ability in Dragon Ball games is mixed. For example, in the iconic Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Ginyu can only swap with a handful of Namek Saga characters, like Vegeta and Krillin. Meanwhile, in Xenoverse 2, Ginyu can swap with just about anyone, leaving fans hoping it's the latter ability and not the former.
"Hopefully he doesn’t just switch with Goku," one excited user wrote on Reddit. Elsewhere, a user said, "Bro gonna steal dlc privilege," which is exactly what will happen if the technique operates how fans are hoping. Only time will tell if Ginyu has the ability to copy anyone, but if there is one thing that's clear, fans are extremely hyped for every little detail in Sparking! Zero.
