Echoes Of Wisdom May Be Housing A Reference To Two Nintendo Legends

Summary
- The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom potentially pays homage to Satoru Iwata and Reggie Fils-Aimé with character names.
- The game features two Zora tribes, each with a leader and assistant, possibly referencing the Nintendo legends.
Nintendo is an expert when it comes to hiding little Easter eggs within its games. Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze contained Samus' ship from Metroid, Ocarina of Time had posters featuring members of the Mushroom Kingdom, and Link's Awakening featured a variety of characters from different Nintendo franchises.

Tomomi Sano is the first woman to direct a mainline Zelda game, as she leads the development of Echoes of Wisdom.
PostsSome of these secrets are subtle, while others are quite brazen, and a potential new Easter egg in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom that we've theorized about at TheGamer certainly falls into the first category.
Could The Zora Be Paying Homage To Two Nintendo Greats?
In Echoes of Wisdom, Zelda comes into contact with two different Zora tribes — the river Zora and the ocean Zora. Each tribe has its leader, and each leader is supported by an assistant.
In the case of the river Zora, the leader is supported by a character named Inawa, and for the ocean Zora, the leader has an assistant named Rogma. These names are potentially a small nod to Nintendo legends Satoru Iwata and Reggie Fils-Amié.
While it may seem a little bit of a stretch, this wouldn't be the only example of Echoes of Wisdom using character names in cute ways, with Minister Lefte and General Wright being another example.
The fact that Fils-Amié ran Nintendo of America and Iwata Nintendo Japan also played into our theory, as it's almost as if they were both parts of different tribes within Nintendo. With Iwata sadly passing in 2015 and Fils-Amié retiring four years later, it feels pertinent that Nintendo would take any opportunity to immortalize these two greats.
We enjoyed our time with Echoes of Wisdom, scoring it a 4/5 in our official review, saying, "Echoes of Wisdom is a wonderful little game that puts experimentation at the centre, yet it also tries to be a traditional Zelda adventure with all the trimmings we’ve come to expect." You can also take a look at the other Easter eggs we found in the game right here.
