Summary

  • Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero gets a lot of things right, including character voice lines, looks and movesets.
  • That said, fans are taking issue with Sparking! Zero's beam clashes, as they are the one thing that is being called inaccurate.
  • Fans took issue with early Dragon Ball Z Goku and Raditz nearly breaking the heavens, and are hoping the issue can be rectified before release.

If there's one singular thing that Dragon Ball is known for, it's its emphasis on earth-shattering and mind-bending beams and energy balls. Whether it's the iconic Kamehameha of Goku, or the Final Flash of Vegeta, nearly every character in the world of Dragon Ball has their own unique move. Some are extremely simple, like the Masenko shared by Piccolo and Gohan, while others may be more complex, like the Stardust Breaker of Gogeta. Either way, all of them are as powerful as they are iconic.

And that's where Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero comes in. Because as the spiritual successor of the Budokai Tenkaichi games of old, Sparking! Zero prides itself on its accuracy. Indeed, every character brought to life in the series is done with as much care and attention as possible. Between a character's costume, voiceover lines and movesets, Sparking! Zero is basically a 1:1 of the anime.

That said, it's no wonder why fans are excited for Sparking! Zero ahead of its October release. However, like any game, there is room for growth. Because for as accurate as everything Sparking! Zero does right, the one thing it's apparently getting wrong is its beam clashes. And super fans of the series are hoping that it gets rectified before it's too late.

Sparking! Zero's Beam Clashes Are Inaccurate And Too Intense

As first spotted on Twitter, a fan noticed how in a fight between early Dragon Ball Z Goku and Raditz, their beam clash is enough to tear apart the universe. Of course, if this was any other pair of characters there would be no issue. However, in a game that aims for supreme accuracy, this particular portrayal misses the mark completely.

That's because the Goku of early Dragon Ball Z is nowhere near as powerful enough to create such a cataclysmic event. That same goes for Raditz, who, despite his high power level, is essentially mere fodder in the grand pantheon of things. It's also simply not how it played out in the anime whatsoever.

All of that is to say that fans are hoping Bandai Namco can switch things up soon. Over on Reddit, fans shared their displeasure in droves. One user wrote, "It would be fine if it was Gogeta’s (without the spinning) as a reference to the movie, but for Early Saiyan Saga Goku and Raditz? It’s extremely out of place, looks awful and makes no sense." Another user chimed in, writing, "Oh why would saiyan saga characters clashing break universes?"

It would appear that fans are in agreement that the animation itself is extremely neat, but it should be reserved for the likes of Ultra Instinct Goku and other god-tier level transformations, in order to preserve its anime-accurate presentation and keep it special. Otherwise, seeing Mr. Satan break the heavens against Yamcha will get pretty tiring quickly.
