We were given a glimpse at this bloody purge during today's livestream with a new gameplay trailer, which showed off the return of classic-style strafing to aim, the brutal iron flail, the revamped glory kill system, and a towering 30-story mech to beat titan-sized demons to death. That's not even to mention the dragon riding with mounted miniguns.
Doom: The Dark Ages Is Not An Xbox Exclusive
If you're a PlayStation player looking on with wide eyes at Doomguy's unrivaled carnage, but don't have an Xbox or PC handy, don't worry. You'll still be able to play Doom: The Dark Ages on May 15.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer said last year that Doom is a franchise that "everyone deserves to play", which is hardly surprising given that the original has been ported to just about everything. Seriously, fans got it running on Captcha.
To that end, Spencer asked id Software studio director Marty Stratton "what he wanted to do, and he said he wanted to sell it on all platforms; simple as that" (as reported by IGN).
Doom: The Dark Ages seeks to capture the spirit of the '90s games by making every projectile matter again.
Unlike Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, another recent Bethesda release, Doom: The Dark Ages will launch on PS5 day one with all other platforms. So, we'll all be ripping n' tearing together soon enough.
