There are over 40 classes to unlock in Disgaea 7, including monster types. Here's how to unlock them all.
PostsClass and rank names are treated interchangeably in Disgaea 7, but we'll be using the specific class names seen in the Scout Shop. Beginners to the game won't have all of these options right away, but half the fun is working towards unlocking more powerful units as you play.
8 Thief
She's not a powerhouse, exactly, but the Thief does have double the chance to steal successfully from enemies compared to Bandits, the male equivalent of this stealthy class. Toss in her Cat Trick special to boost hit and speed for increased odds of sneaking away with your nabbed item.
When you're facing down Item Gods and trying to make off with their gear, this ability will be essential to pulling off the heist. She can be outmoded later in the game when your stats are sky-high. Until then, the Thief is a must for getting better equipment from the Item World.
7 Gunslinger
If you want to go in guns blazing, this class is the obvious choice. Multiple attacks give her a chance to do a lot of damage in a turn. Gunslingers have a wider variety of elemental resistances and are slightly vulnerable to fisticuff fighters in favor of better bow resistance compared to the Gunner.
Her best evilities start at rank three, letting you earn more HL for your wallet by using Golden Touch. In higher ranks, you can trade that currency to dole out more damage with Coin Toss or really tear into the HP bar of enemies next to her with Point-Blank.
6 Martial Artist
With better health, attack, and defense compared to his female counterpart, the Martial Artist is a great choice for humanoid classes that protect your more vulnerable units. The Fight Mistress is faster, with more SP and resistance for those who prefer her style (and she is very popular in the fandom).

PostsHis class is geared toward dealing and withstanding damage, which quickly proves helpful in daunting battles. A special skill that ignores defense buffs makes him even more useful in a pinch. Some trivia about the class is that an enemy Martial Artist, Penne, lets you farm Recovery Points (RP) shortly after starting Disgaea 7.
5 Witch
A streamlined magic user with a whole host of spells to unleash, the Witch class also boasts solid base stats for her unit type and good growth rates, too. Her balanced design comes across clearly in the details. Her HP is lower than a Magician, but her defense stat and growth are higher.
Choosing an elemental focus for her spells makes her a classic RPG staple, too. Her high SP and a starter evility that halves SP cost turn her into a magical tank fairly early on in the game, when most other units are still coming into their own.
4 Armor Knight
Someone has to hold the front line, and this humanoid class is made for the job. The male unit has slightly higher defenses against spears and bows, while the female unit has a similar boost to her resistance against swords. Both can deal a good amount of damage while holding off enemies.
Powered Capture, his unique skill, lets you control the battlefield even more by yanking opponents into combat range from up to three spaces away. He'll really start to shine when he reaches his top rank and can survive a killing blow with 1 HP left once per battle.
3 Maiko
Disgaea newcomers might recognize this class because of how it resembles the Dancer class from the Fire Emblem series, not to mention other fantasy RPGs. She does have some unexpected abilities, however, like the buff evility called Deadly Footwear that actually reduces your movement while boosting attack power.

As an SRPG, you'll be fighting a lot of battles in Disgaea 7. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your units.
PostsShe's not easy to unlock because she requires the rare Angel Cake before you can hire her. But for the unique special, Encouragement, that allows another unit to fight or steal twice in one turn? It's absolutely a worthwhile quest to finish, especially since other classes can't even get the special skill through reincarnation.
2 Mecha Girl
Referred to as the War Lady at the top rank, this class debuted in Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny as something like a robotic version of the sage from earlier games in the series. This overlap is in large area-of-effect (AoE) attacks like the Mecha Girl's Full Strike with endless range. When you need to deal with the Item World fast, you'll be glad you have this level-clearing special.
Her well-rounded design does make it somewhat difficult to max her stats. Particularly before rank three, when her AoE attacks finally stop hurting your allies that might get caught in her range.
1 Celestial Hostess
This magical knight is known as the Paladin once she reaches her max rank. A combination of healing, resurrection, and C specials make her versatile and indispensable to your party. Angel's Prayer makes it so she can heal every unit you have on the field regardless of where they are in relation to her.
Didn't save a unit before they fell in combat? No worries. Miracle of Love means the Celestial Hostess class can bring them back. But she's not just a supporting unit, so that's where Valkyrie Order comes in. This special causes your unit's next attack to hit twice for double the damage.
