How To Craft A Furniture Blueprint
Just like you would purchase blank clothing from Scrooge's store, you must craft blank furniture at a crafting table. Head to any crafting table and select the Furniture tab, and there will be a variety of white furniture pieces.
Most of these blank furniture pieces will require collecting a lot of wood in order to craft them.
You will mostly need stacks of Hardwood and Softwood. Softwood is the most common type of wood that can be found in every single biome.
You can find Hardwood in every biome except Dazzle Beach, the Plaza, and Peaceful Meadow. It will be a medium, maroon tone compared to the beige of the regular Softwood.
Only one recipe, the Basic Lamp, will need a third type of wood. Dry Wood can be found as white twigs in Forgotten Lands, Frosted Heights, and Sunlit Plateau.
Each furniture item in the Crafting Table is meant to be white as a blank slate. This way you can start your design from scratch.

How To Customize Furniture
Once you actually craft one of these blueprints, how do you even find it and customize it? It's not the same as going into your Wardrobe.
You must head into Furniture mode as if you were to decorate the valley. From here, select Customize under Categories, at the very top of the list of furniture.
Here, you will find a collection of customizable furniture blueprints you own. Select one of them to get started on something unique.
There are some key differences between customizing furniture and clothing. With furniture, you can change the material and glossiness.
For example, as you are picking a color for your table top, you can select Metal to be ON or OFF. This gives it a shiny, darkened effect as if it were metal.
When customizing a piece of furniture, you can change the texture of the material. You can have woven twine, standard cushioning, or solid coloring.
To change the texture of a piece of furniture, select one of the two small squares in the selection bar.
This will pick a part of the furniture you want to design, such as the legs of a chair or the seat.
Once you do that, a bigger square will appear with more options. Select the larger square in order to change the texture or pattern appearance. The tiny square then changes color.
Same as with clothing, you will be able to click the plus sign under Layers and select different motifs to add to furniture.
Everyone gets a set amount of motifs they can use, but you can always earn unique Motifs by completing the seasonal Star Path or leveling up the friendship levels of a villager.
