There were all sorts of machines and mechanical wonders, but they were lost to time... until you got the Royal Hourglass.

With its time-bending powers, you're able to find pieces of these machines scattered about, but you'll need a little help with how to make them. You've got the powers, Scrooge has got the know-how, and we'll guide you on how to upgrade your Hourglass and get your first Ancient Machine built.

How To Upgrade Your Hourglass

After completing Scrooge's other Friendship quests, New Ventures (And Adventures) and A Garden In The Desert, you'll unlock his next quest, Village Project: Gear Loose And Fancy Free.

Find and speak with Scrooge on Eternity Isle or the Valley, and he'll inform you that he's remembered more about Eternity Isle and what used to be there, and bring up that it used to have automated machines.

First thing you'll need to do is upgrade your Hourglass to level one, and to do that you'll need 5,000 Mist to do so, and it'll unlock the ability to find new treasures, new ancient parts, and new debris-clearing upgrades.

How To Build An Ancient Machine

With your Hourglass upgraded, you'll get several new recipes, including the three basic Ancient Machines:

  • Basic Ancient Cooker
  • Basic Ancient Gardener
  • Basic Ancient Vacuum

Any of the three machines counts for the quest, but each one has its own set of materialsto find via searching for time rifts with your Hourglass.

Bringing a character with the Hangout Bonus for Time Bending can speed up the process, especially when looking for Ancient Cores.

Ancient Core (Level 1) x2

Ancient Radiator x3

Ancient Plate x3

Basic Ancient Gardener

Mist x2000

Ancient Core (Level 1) x2

Ancient Gear x3

Ancient Pipe x3

Basic Ancient Vacuum

Mist x2000

Ancient Core (Level 1) x2

Ancient Magnet x3

Ancient Belt x3

Once you've got any of the three Basic machines made, head over to the Glittering Dunes, and place the machine somewhere using the Furniture mode. After placing it, you can interact with it for a brief tutorial on Ancient Machines.

Return to Scrooge and speak with him again. He'll congratulate you on bringing some of the ancient machinery back to the future, and reward you with 1,000 Friendship, 500 Mist, and a Level 1 Ancient Core.
