Diablo 4's latest season has reworked how the battle pass works. Now called Reliquaries, these individual reward tracks now make up the entire battle pass reward system. Favor has been reworked into Favor Tokens, and the linear battle pass structure has been reworked into something more akin to a cosmetic shop.

There are 24 boss powers to master in Diablo 4's latest season. Here's how they work.
PostsFiguring out how this works can be somewhat confusing, especially if you don't own the current battle pass. Today, we'll be giving a brief overview of how Reliquaries work, what's different compared to the old battle pass model, and quickly go over how you can get Favor Tokens to redeem these rewards.
What Are Reliquaries?
CloseReliquaries act as subcategories of Diablo 4's new battle pass structure. Every Battle Pass is now broken up into four Reliquaries, categories for reward types you can claim throughout the season. For Belial's Return, there are four Reliquaries.
- Belial's Return: A reward track that's free for all players. Has a little bit of everything.
- Weapons: Contains premium cosmetics for weapon archetypes.
- Beasts: A premium reward track consisting of mounts and pets.
- Armor: Contains premium cosmetic armor sets for each class.
Each Reliquary acts as its own reward track you can progress at any time. Unlocking items within each Reliquary will require Favor Tokens, a new currency type that replaces the old Favor system. As you play Diablo 4 and progress through the season, you'll earn Favor Tokens that can be redeemed in any Reliquary you see fit. Rewards within each Reliquary aren't linked sequentially, so you can purchase any item you want.
Only one of the Reliquaries is free to all players. To access the other three Reliquary rewards, you'll need to purchase that Reliquary with Silver, Diablo 4's premium currency. Each Reliquary costs 200 Silver.
Should you unlock every reward in a Reliquary, you'll be awarded a bonus reward that's labeled with a star in the UI. In Season 8, that is a unique armor set that's spread out between all four Reliquary paths. If you purchase the Digital Deluxe version of the Battle Pass, you'll get this reward immediately instead.
It's worth noting that the new Reliquary system awards significantly less Platinum than the previous system, granting 200 Silver in total compared to the previous 700 Silver you could earn. Be mindful of this before spending any Silver on a Reliquary reward track.
Earning Favor Tokens
Favor Tokens may be earned through gameplay, similar to how Favor used to work. Earning XP from any source will unlock Favor Tokens for your account. Defeating monsters, completing quests, and beating pinnacle bosses all contribute progress.
Seasonal challenges no longer grant Favor—they've been reworked to drop item bundles and Smoldering Ashes instead.
You may earn up to 99 Favor Tokens in a given season. Since these are account bound, you'll always be making progress towards your next unlock, regardless of which character you're playing. So long as that character is tied to the current season, you'll be earning Favor Tokens.
