Destiny 2's Into the Light update brought back 12 fan-favorite weapons with a fresh coat of paint. Known as the Brave arsenal, these weapons received major perk overhauls and new origin traits to bring their power level up to modern sandbox standards. Each weapon brings something unique to the table and can compete with some of Destiny 2's strongest, most meta-defining weapons.

Here are the best rolls for Destiny 2: Into the Light's Brave weapons.
PostsVirtually every reprised weapon is an S-tier pick in either PvE or PvP, sometimes both. Today, we'll be ranking all 12 Brave weapons from worst to best, ranking them based on unique perk combinations, ease of use, and their effectiveness in both PvE and PvP.
This article will be focusing on PvE performance with each ranking, although we do include PvP performance if the weapon is notably powerful in the Crucible.
God roll recommendations are not included in this list. For our roll recommendations, check out our Brave arsenal god rolls guide.
12 Hung Jury SR4
It should be no surprise that Hung Jury is at the bottom of our list. This is the fourth time it's been reissued in Destiny 2, and it's not even the best version of this weapon. The previous Nightfall variant could roll with Shoot To Loot and Kinetic Tremors, an S-tier combination for a PvE utility weapon. This new version lacks that combination but still has some decent options.
Arguably the strongest combination on this gun is Explosive Payload and Kinetic Tremors, although this isn't enough to make Hung Jury competitive with Hand Cannons. Crucible players can use No Distractions and Box Breathing for some cheesy three taps, but that isn't a unique combination on this version—the last two variants could get Box Breathing with a consistency perk.
Out of the entire Brave arsenal, Hung Jury is hands-down the worst of the bunch. It's still a good Scout Rifle, but it's not a meta-defining weapon like most of the Brave roster.
11 The Recluse
While this version of the Recluse isn't anywhere near as powerful as its Pinnacle version from Season 6, that's arguably for the best. Master of Arms now gives a measly 15% damage bonus, but Bungie made up for this by giving Recluse an excellent perk pool for a PvE workhorse weapon. Frenzy is effectively Master of Arms with a free reload perk baked into it, freeing up the third column for utility options like Repulsor Brace.
Crucible players can also run Dynamic Sway Reduction with perks like Frenzy, Desperate Measures, or Master of Arms for a highly lethal 900 RPM SMG. It's by no means a unique SMG in today's sandbox, but Recluse is a great workhorse weapon that's worth farming for if you don't own a good Funnelweb or The TItle SMG.
10 Forbearance
To be clear, the Brave version of Forbearance isn't a bad weapon. Demolitionist and the Indomitable origin trait allow you to generate a ton of grenade energy with kills, but there's one major issue: these perks are affected by ability scalars. Season 23 introduced a mechanic where longer cooldown abilities receive less energy from perks and mods. That, unfortunately, affects Forbearance, significantly reducing the efficacy of this perk combo on most grenade builds.
With that said, a Wave-Frame GL with Demolitionist and Chain Reaction is nothing to scoff at. This weapon was built to slay adds easily, and it certainly gets the job done here. Fire a shot, kill a handful of enemies, and restore nearly half of your grenade energy. The grenade regeneration might be hamstrung currently, but Forbearance is still an S-tier weapon for PvE activities. If you distatic.aayyy.com/topic/dn/'t farm for the crafting pattern in Vow of the Disciple, be sure to pick this up.
9 Succession
PvE players have little reason to farm for Succession if they already have it crafted, as its best combination is still Reconstruction with Recombination. However, if you never picked up the crafting pattern from the Deep Stone Crypt raid, farming for Succession is worth your time if you lack a good Kinetic Sniper Rifle.
Crucible players should absolutely farm for this version of Succession, as it's the only Sniper Rifle to roll with Discord and Snapshot Sights. Both perks significantly reduce your ADS speed, and Discord allows you to refund ammo on kills. It fixes every issue Sniper Rifles have in the current sandbox, and it can be enhanced when The Final Shape launches.
8 Elsie's Rifle
The Stranger's Rifle from the original Destiny has been brought back as Elsie's Rifle, a 340 RPM Pulse Rifle that's statistically identical to No Time to Explain. This version deals Void damage instead of Kinetic, and it lacks the Time Portal mechanic. But what it lacks in Exotic properties, it makes up for with absurdly powerful perk combinations.

Sunsetting has officially been sunset. Check your Vault for these long-forgotten weapons.
PostsRepulsor Brace and Desperate Measures are great perks for PvE if you don't mind using Pulse Rifles. Crucible players will absolutely want a roll with Zen Moment and Headseeker, as it substantially increases the weapon's consistency in 1v1 duels. Not even Messenger feels as good as this weapon. Just be sure to use a roll with a recoil direction barrel, as the gun's default recoil pattern is rather difficult to control.
7 Hammerhead
Hammerhead is a stat monster that has only gotten stronger with this reissue. High base stats, a whopping 90 aim assist, and a great origin trait make Hammerhead a great weapon out of the box. As for perks, PvE players can run Rampage with Killing Tally to deal some absurd damage against majors and Champions. It isn't a good single-target DPS weapon, but that's to be expected from a Machine Gun.
Crucible players can also run with Under Over and Tap the Trigger for the ultimate Heavy weapon. Under Over will melt most survivability effects in the game, and Tap the Trigger will remove bloom from your first few shots, allowing you to land consistent headshots from any distance. It's an excellent Machine Gun that excels in most situations, both in PvE and PvP.
6 Falling Guillotine
Falling Guillotine has the most stacked perk pool out of any Sword in Destiny 2, and it's not even close. The first trait column can get Vorpal Weapon, Frenzy, and Chain Reaction. You can pair these perks with S-tier damage traits like Surrounded, Relentless Strikes, Bait and Switch, and even Sword Logic.
Unfortunately, Falling Guillotine's base archetype has been hit with many nerfs over the years, so it isn't quite the DPS king that many would assume. With that said, there's a good chance Bungie will buff Vortex Frames in the near future. If they do, be sure to have a god roll tucked away in your Vault. This weapon will absolutely dominate the Sword meta if it ever gets buffed.
5 Mistatic.aayyy.com/topic/dn/ight Coup
Arguably the most popular Hand Cannon during Destiny 2's first year, Mistatic.aayyy.com/topic/dn/ight Coup has returned in this update with some excellent perk combinations. The classic combination of Outlaw and Rampage is back, but far stronger options now exist.
For most PvE players, Firefly and One for All will serve you best. Firefly will max the weapon's reload stat and damage all nearby enemies with a violent explosion, which can proc One for All if it hits enough enemies. One for All will then buff Mistatic.aayyy.com/topic/dn/ight Coup's damage and your Firefly explosions. As for PvP, Moving Target and Zen Moment is a solid combination, although this weapon won't dethrone meta 140 Hand Cannons.
While not the strongest PvP weapon, Mistatic.aayyy.com/topic/dn/ight Coup is so powerful in PvE that it's worth chasing. It's effectively a stronger version of Fatebringer that can use enhanced perks come Final Shape.
4 Blast Furnace
One of Destiny 2's most iconic Pulse Rifles, Blast Furnace is a 450 RPM pulse that has been reissued with an incredible perk pool. Kinetic Tremors with either One for All or Frenzy is nothing short of S-tier, as this gun can proc Kinetic Tremors in three bursts. Those explosions can proc your damage perk, making this weapon fantastic for most PvE content.

Pulse Rifles have never been better in Destiny 2. These are the best of the best for PvE content.
PostsBlast Furnace also excels in the Crucible. Headseeker and Rapid Hit are amazing for 1v1 duels, and you can replace Rapid Hit with Kill Clip for some incredibly fast kills. It has a ton of range, is easy to use, and has an incredible perk pool. Few Pulse Rifles can compete with Blast Furnace, especially when it comes to PvE.
3 Luna's Howl
Luna's Howl has returned as a 140 RPM Hand Cannon with the intrinsic of a 180, featuring minimal recoil and improved airborne effectiveness. This automatically makes Luna's Howl a great PvP Hand Cannon for players who fight in the air, but the gun's perks make it a surprisingly powerful PvE weapon as well.
If you've never farmed for a good Zaouli's Bane, you'll want to get Heal Clip and Incandescent on this weapon. Both perks can be enhanced in The Final Shape, so Incandescent will trigger Ignitions just as quickly as Zaouli's Bane. For PvP, you can run the classic Magnificent Howl perk, which was reworked to behave more like Hawkmoon, or use Precision Instrument for easy three taps. It's the ultimate Hand Cannon if you value flexibility.
