8 Lingering Questions We Have After The End Of Harvestella

Harvestella combines the storytelling and character development of a JRPG with the day-to-day mechanics of a farming simulator akin to Harvest Moon. The story is a journey of finding answers to how to get rid of the Quietus, death-causing dust that will rot anything and everything that comes into contact with it-- the main character notwithstanding.

While most of the storylines and tidbits are neatly wrapped up from beginning to end, several mysteries remain hidden within the veil of vague clues that will leave you with more questions that might not be answered in the game.
8 Why Do Places Have Space You Can't Use?
It’s not just your garden and workspace either; it’s various places around the world. Places such as the Cave Biome are especially egregious when it comes to the lack of usability. It would have been nice to have some sort of side quest in which you have to build this piece of land up to be used by either yourself or some of the townsfolk for goods.
Sure, you can plant crops in both the cave and water biomes that were previously unavailable to you, but that’s still not getting the most utilization out of the biomes considering the patch you farm on is small.
7 Why The Name Karenoid?
In Harvestella, the names of places, and especially dungeons, are more inclined to have opulent names, such as Philosophical Hypocenter and Panthalassa Junction, the name Karenoid sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest, and without any explanation for why. The dungeon offers answers about other events in the game but not the namesake.
Was it named after a person? If so, how was it remembered, as no one else seems to be worried about the gigantic dungeon under your house? Does the mayor know and never said anything, or was the secret of the Karenoid’s name lost to history? Sadly, there isn’t an answer to be had, so it’ll instead itch at the back of your head until you forget the matter.
6 Could You Have Saved Tiella?
You learn that Asyl’s friend Tiella is a catalyst to controlling the weapons, better known as dragons, and that if she didn’t return to them, they would indiscriminately attack the entire world without Tiella’s presence. Without her, they would attack anything they didn’t recognize. Since they existed in another era entirely, everything is unfamiliar.

Tiella suggests that they end her so the dragons can deactivate, but couldn’t there be another way to solve this problem, preferably without sacrificing Tiella’s existence? Destroying her so succinctly and just after she had found a life for herself seems more than cruel. He turned down Otella the dragon’s backup key, but if it were possible to have both Tiella and the dragons, Asyl would have likely agreed.
5 Was Aria’s Harbinger Alter-Ego A Part Of Her, Or Gaia's Influence?
Aria was the true protagonist of the game, as it was the story of how the world was shaped in both her time and after. It’s understood that she has ties to Gaia and wants to return the people of Lost Gaia to how they were before. Gaia is an AI who performs the actions of the unconscious Cains who felt guilty about what happened before. During their slumber, they wish for death so that nothing else would get destroyed.
Aria, being a Cain as well, seems to be of her own free will when she decides to betray the party and attack them. However, her energy is the same color as Gaia’s energy, casting doubt over whether this was her free will or Gaia’s.
4 How did the Quietus stay outside?
The Quietus is a deadly in-between that comes when the seasons change. It is deadly to both crops and to people, who end up poisoned if they are caught outside during the event. It makes sense to have everyone hide and stay as safe as possible from it, but it logically raises questions on how the Quietus operates.
The main question is: if the Quietus is a particulate, how do the people avoid it coming into the house from the cracks of the doors and windows? Surely the quietus isn't knocking on the door or simply being polite.
3 What Happened To Fiasola?
Heine is an excellent inventor who once had a friendly rivalry with siren and fellow inventor Fiasola, who helped him push his limits as an inventor while also Teasing him in the process. Their relationship looked as though it was on the precipice of becoming romantic when tragedy struck.
Fiasola disappears without a trace, and none seems to know what happened or where she is. Heine never gives up on her, though, and has made it his mission to comb the world to search for her. This is all that's learned about her, but knowing Heine hasn't given up gives you hope.
2 Oh, So We’re Not On Earth?
The revelation hits you like a truck if you can weather the depth of the Karenoid dungeon after fighting the final boss. They tell you that you and your fellow Cains are from Earth. Not just any Earth, though, our Earth. It’s touched upon slightly through Heine’s side story quest but isn’t confirmed true until the boss fight at the end of Karanoid.

How has it been that you’ve never noticed that the moon has been missing the entire game? Sure, day and night cycles are normal, but usually, the moon is a big part of that, and for it to be missing entirely is probably the biggest clue we get that this isn’t the Earth you thought it was.
1 What Happens To The Cains After The End?
Everything you've fought for up until the end was a way for both the Cains and Abels to coexist without sacrificing the other and for peace to reign. Through all your trials, tribulations, and battles, it seems as though you’ve found your path to creating that future of harmony. At least, that’s what it seems.
Geist tells you that those who are within the stasis pods don’t have a lot of time left before their telomeres reach a point where the bodies will no longer be able to be resurrected. After all, is said and done, and you’ve beaten the final boss, you are not a step closer to helping those that are still stuck. There have been hints dabbled through the game to find a way to bring them back, but in the end, all you have are more questions than answers.
