Hideo Kojima gave us possibly one of the strangest video game trailers ever with the title reveal of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which included everything from talking wooden puppets to a massive robot samurai giggling like a baby. It was definitely a trailer with a lot to unpack, as fans scour every frame for potential ideas as to where the game's story is going to go. One of the more interesting theories even has Sam Bridges heading into space.

First spotted by Reddit user Tappxor and shared with the Death Stranding subreddit, a very small piece of text right at the end of the game's trailer seems to imply that a lot of effort has gone into the moon, enough effort to contact people at NASA for a "CGI Moon Kit" at the very least. This very tiny piece of small print has quite a few fans thinking that the moon might actually play quite a large part in Death Stranding 2, convinced that this is too much effort on Kojima's part for the moon to just be a 2D texture floating in the sky.

Of course, we did see the moon in the trailer of Death Stranding 2, which provided a beautiful backdrop for a scene that had Sam walking around an unknown location in the dead of night. It's absolutely massive, with incredible detailing as a result, but some people think that it would be very Kojima-esque to contact NASA just to get a pretty shot of the moon for his game's new trailer. Fans argue back and forth in the thread's replies, but it's clear the moon has some kind of importance in Death Stranding 2's themes.

Death Stranding 1 is walking across America. Death Stranding 2 is sailing across the world. Death Stranding 3 goes to the Moon.

That was made very clear in the first Death Stranding as well, as it makes several fourth wall breaking nods to Kojima Productions' astronaut mascot Ludens. You may also remember that antagonist Cliff Unger, during a flashback, promises that his BB will be able to go wherever it wants once it's free, even the moon.

Couple that with the fact that it seems like Death Stranding 2 will take Sam Bridges all over the world to connect various places to the Chiral Network, and a sudden trip to space doesn't seem all that ridiculous. Well, it doesn't seem that ridiculous in a game that features a now alive again Higgs in Joker makeup shooting lightning out of a guitar in a fast-paced fight sequence against a giant baby robot samurai. In fact, it sounds pretty tame in comparison.
