At the start of the game, your best options are to grab a skateboard, make some Fleetfoot, and just hightail it around whenever possible. Early on, though, a shortcut from Paradise Plaza to Wonderland Plaza presents itself that makes travelling a ton easier, as long as you follow the steps to unlocking it.

How To Unlock The Wonderland Plaza Shortcut

The Scoop attached to the Wonderland Plaza shortcut is called Out of Control, and it takes place in Wonderland Plaza at 9pm on the night of Day 1, before going inactive at 11am on Day 2. You'll need to be outside of Wonderland Plaza to get the call from Otis, so as soon as it gets close to 9pm, make sure you're not in that area.

Otis will eventually call you and inform you that the Space Rider in Wonderland Plaza is, as the title implies, out of control and needs to be turned off. Head over to the space-themed rollercoaster in the middle of Wonderland Plaza and you'll get into a fight with Adam The Clown, one of Dead Rising's first Psychopath boss battles.

Defeating Adam the Clown is one of the most important things you can do in Dead Rising, as it'll also unlock a very powerful weapon called the Small Chainsaw.

Once you've defeated Adam (you can check out our guide here if you're having trouble), you'll automatically grab his keycard. Head over to the machine and turn it off and you'll rescue Greg, a Willamette Mall security guard who will let you in on one of the game's best secrets. Talk to him and he'll let you know there's a shortcut to Paradise Plaza within Wonderland Plaza, which takes you from one end of the map to the other.

Follow Greg, while making sure to protect him from zombies in his way, and he'll take you to the ladies' bathroom on the ground floor of Wonderland Plaza, right near the exit to North Plaza. Head into the bathroom and you'll see a ladder next to the mirror that you can interact with to be sent to the ground floor bathroom of Paradise Plaza.

This shortcut is also right next to a save point, which makes it a great place to mark your progress whenever you skip between the two areas.

This shortcut is essential to making the most of your time in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, as it cuts out the whole of Leisure Park and keeps you from having to deal with the Convicts constantly. Since Wonderland Plaza is also right next to the Food Court and North Plaza, it makes for a great way of getting around the mall in general and is an essential tool for rescuing every survivor in the game.
